Thanks for all the kind words
"WHY are you apologizing?!!"
Mike I was playing off of another thread were someone called the tractors toys & you stated they were TOOLS. That post just came to mind after I typed "play".
I spent about 1 1/2 hours after the earlier posts getting familiar with the tractor. I removed the backhoe, installed the 3 point arms. This proved to be a challange as the backhoe mounting brackets do not leave alot of room to get the arms back on the lower pins. I think that once the balls in the arms loosen up it will go much better. Also the loop hose for the power beyond was blocking the center link bracket. It was a simple adjustment to get it out of the way. I installed the bucket level indicator & rear ballast & went to work.
It did not take long to see that I was in tractor heaven. There really is no comparison between the 4710 & the 4400. The 4400 is a great small tractor. I did a lot of work with it over the past 3 years. It is that the 4710 is a real tractor. The kind I remember back on the farm. We have 17 acres of ground. Besides the 10 tillable acres the only other flat areas are the floors of our bulidings. I was never really comfortable using the 4400 in alot of areas because of the narrow width.
I finished moving a pile of dirt today on the dam of our pond with the 4710. I had to drive down the slope on the back side of the dam to do it & I felt very at ease. I started to move it last fall with the 4400 & gave up. The 4710 is very stable. I do need the wheel weights on it. I had about 600 lbs on the 3 point & there were times that I could feel 1 rear wheel come off the ground when trying to break a bucket full of dirt loose from the pile. I probably should have reinstalled the backhoe for ballast.
As for the electronics. When the salesman was explaining the Load Match, I did not completely understand his explanation. I just could not see how it would be that useful. I found out while moving the dirt pile how useful it is. This has got to be one of the best features on the tractor.
The next project is going to be install 120 feet of 18" drian tile for a new pond overflow through the area that the dirt pile used to be. Then I have a huge amount of dirt to move from our back yard. It came from the excavation for an addition to our cabinet shop. I am going to post some pictures of some of the projects.
The first picture is an after shot of the dirt pile. I did not think of taking a before.
