Junk; I edited my last post while you must have been doing something else. The thread is "tractor purchase" /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yep, and some very prolific posters are slacking off too it seems. I might not post the most understandable posts, Scottish ya know, but I'll not be chased off by what's happening. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The thing is, they may or may not be trolls. But whether they are or not, my advice is the same.

I see the messages you all consider to be offensive, and I understand how you can consider them to be so, but I can also make a pretty good case that what we have is a few people who are absolutely positive they're making a valuable contribution, and are passionate about defending their contribution. The fact that they're passionate about their particular tractor is a haulmark of TBN.

What has changed since I joined TBN is the lack of balance. In the old days, every question was answered, "All of the brands are good -- blah, blah, blah." This was a tradition, and I'm not certain everyone was totally sincere, but no one wanted to spoil the soup. What we have are a few newcomers who don't understand that tradition, or don't care about keeping it up.

I don't usually post on that forum, or even spend much time reading it, but on one recent thread I mocked those folks by saying something like, "The best manufacturer is New Holland. I know, because I bought one, and I can't be wrong." Of course, the difference between my post and theirs is that I wasn't serious.

But, the old timers are contributing to the downfall also, in my opinion, by challending the offenders. My advice, and it's the standard advice given whenever trolls are involved so it should work here if you believe they are trolls, is to simply ignore them.

If one of them gives wrong advice because of lack of experience, let it go.
If one of them pushes a specific brand when it wasn't called for, let it go.
If one of them makes a disparaging reference to a big 3 company, let it go.

With all trolls, if you ignore them, they will go away.

When you challenge them, even if you are correct, you have just hijacked the thread, and contributed to the lessening of the value. Pretty soon, you won't have newbies asking questions because they'll be afraid they will set off another battle.

It takes two to tango. If you get upset about what someone has written or the advice they have offered, let it go. Please believe me. If the advice they gave was unwise or unwanted, the questioner will figure it out on his own. You don't need to challenge them.

Let it go. Ignore them. The rest of us will understand, and we'll also be at peace.

This seems to be a common problem not just on this board but also on another I belong to, half way around the world from you.

Must be the - Weather, Season, State of mind, Other.

Let it ride and just ignore it but please don't give in and leave.
We newbies need your valuable help and advice.

Hi Dave; Glad to hear it's not just an American [phoenomina] [sp], thing, cause I can't spell. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif I never looked at my posts as being real valuable, but I will say, I'm not about to let these jerkwaters chase me out. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

OkeeDon made some very good points, wish I was that good with English. Unfortunatley, we've lost some posters that were key players, for info, humour, whatever.

G'day Mate!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The only problem with this is that if that advise puts the person in danger. I have seen a lot of bad advise given, such as mowing with the loader on and in the total up position so it won't interfere with your view of what you are cutting. Information such as that can get a new tractor owner into trouble real quick if it isn't countered with correct information. Mowing is only one subject that I comes to mind. Trailering is another. There is no shortage of misinformation to go around, but there will be a shortage of knowledgeable people to counter that misinformation if the trend isn't reversed.

Did ol Daryl 5030 leave. I thought he was in the middle of getting rid of the 5030 and moving up to another tractor?
Seems to me this phenomina of folks coming and going and sometimes going for good is nothing new, I can look back on my PM's from day 1 and see that almost everyone is gone that PM'd me. Hey, maybe theres a link. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
