Put the backhoe on the tractor to replace a culvert a couple weeks ago, immediately had fluid coming out the dipper cylinder. No big deal, pulled it appart and took it to the local shop to get all the seals.

Finally got it back together over the weekend, used it for about 10min and the bucket cylinder had fluid running out of it! Got the seals for that today and picked up some seals for the boom cylinder while I was there (uses the same seals as the dipper) in anticipation of that one going out next. Not looking forward to boom cylinder removal.

I'm sure the swing cylinders won't be far behind and one will require a rod replacment.

Gotta love maintaining equipment with hydraulics.

I've found that stuff holds up better when kept inside out of the weather.

Of course it does but price a building in this economy.

Not an issue here, already have a Clearspan Truss Arch building that ALL my hay and cutivation tools and tractors stay RV and tractor trailer all fit nicely inside. 48 wide x 15 high x 100 feet long.

That's why us old farts built our barns when they were affordable.
You youngsters have it rough.

A three sided equipment pole building isn’t that expensive to build. Also there are plenty of companies that will build steel carport structures for a reasonable price. They build them in a couple of hours. You just need to level the ground before they construct the carport.

I had issues with my backhoe cylinders early too. They all seem to leak more than should be appropriate for their age and use. What I don't get is why I've never had that problem (in 17 years of service) with my loader cylinders. All kept indoors all the time.

I assume it's because they get more abuse (being torqued at different angles, banged around, etc.).

Probably shouldn't have said that, they'll start leaking now....

Agree, but I didn't have control over that for most of its life.

The larger run in storage should be up sometime next year hopefully

A price increase for a local (delayed) contruction project (new bridge across the Columbia River) was announced that the reason for such a large increase form the original estimate was the 51% increase due to inflation over the last 3 years.
