Re: IT\'S A BOY!!!...I Mean A Kubota!

I waited for you to go on vacation so I could slip one in on you. Surprise!!! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

I called Rick earlier today and ordered 2 tiltmeters. I'm still evaluating where to mount them, but I'm a avid tinkerer and I love this part of the game /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

Still not sure if I'll be taking the loader off much. The only areas I may have to mow that are tight are also fairly small and I can probably do them fairly quickly with my DR Trimmer/Mower as I have done for so long anyway.
Bird mentioned a stability (front/back) issue when using a brush hog while the loader is attached, but I want to finish ballasting my 'Bota before I draw any conclusions.

Time will tell...

Harv;
Those are sure some beautiful pictures of your equipment as well as your handiwork. You are very talented and I sure envy your abilities. I tried to put your cry symbol on a reply but it failed and then I accidently sent it. Sorry! Evidently you have your own arsenal of symbols. Thanks again for the photos of the Tractor, equipment, and the technical handiwork.

Chuck -

Thanks for the kind words. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Sorry to confuse things with my little extra doodles. I really should stick to the ones provided, but sometimes I just can't help myself.

Harv,
As others have responded Wal-Marts and most automotive stores carry the yellow cans.

Re: IT\'S A BOY!!!...I Mean A Kubota!

Harv,

I found the diesel cans at Quality Farm/Country Post too. But I got tired of filling the tractor with them so I bought a 28 gallon Diesel Caddy with pump and wheels from Overtons. It's great!! Northern has something similar too. Mine is plastic. Just the right size for me to keep fresh fuel and have more on hand and not have to lift the cans up. Both our trucks are diesel too so it's no big deal to throw it in the bed and fill up. I couldn't use a 300 gallon tank really so I went this route. Something to think about.

Re: IT\'S A BOY!!!...I Mean A Kubota!

Harv,
If you can't find any diesel cans locally check out
http://www.agri-supply.com/catmain/2600023.htm
they have all sorts of neat stuff, including the cans you are looking for.

You will enjoy your new L2500DT. I have the same set up. I've had it about 2 1/2 yrs with ZERO problems. In regards to getting it thru a garage door. My garage has a slight "ramp up" before entering. By backing it in it the ROPS will just fit under the door before the back tires start up the ramp. It wont go in forwards by a couple of inches.
I don't remember if you have wheel weights, filled tires, or nothing but I noticed a world of diiference when I had the tires filled. It made lots of difference in traction when using ground engaging tools (disc, plow, blades) with very little difference when mowing. I can use 2wd now on alot of things that required 4wd before. The biggest down side I can find in MY use is moving it on a trailer. With the loader attached and a heavy 3pt implement its all I want to burden my F150 with. NO WAY would I attack it with a smaller truck.
happy tractoring

Re: IT\'S A BOY!!!...I Mean A Kubota!

Chuck, Roy, BSauter, Jeff -

Thanks for the diesel can tips. It's starting to look like a regional thing. Here in the city none of the auto supply stores have the yellow cans or even know where to get them, and it's about a 30-minute drive to the nearest WalMart.

Next time I head out into the country I'll make a point of stopping at some of those stores. And if I can't find anything there I will certainly try the online places some of you have mentioned.

The good news is that my tractor came with 3/4 of a tank full, and I can already see that that will get me through several weekends.

Thanks again for the info.

Jeff -

Glad to meet another L2500 owner. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Mine came with filled tires and I have plans for making some wheel weights. I already bought 420 pounds of scrap lead which I will melt down and pour into various shapes depending on where I plan to attach them to the tractor.

This is much of the fun for me. I love to tinker and see just how creative I can be. Sometimes the results are good, and sometimes ... /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif!!!

Re: IT\'S A BOY!!!...I Mean A Kubota!

Harv, I guess your area is too urban for the stores to stock diesel fuel containers. Probably those who own diesel cars/trucks do not have a need to keep diesel fuel on hand. Once you get a container(s) you might want to try to locate a place that sells off road diesel. It doesn't have all the taxes added to it so you could save a little money. You probably will not use enough fuel for it to make a significant impact on your budget but it is nice to not pay any taxes that you do not have to.
