It's a conspiracy - check your measuring devices

I am old, and it doesn't matter any more, but I would go thru the pain of converting to the metric system just to get it over with and leave something besides debt for our children. A show of hands if you agree. My hand is up. What say you. Up or down.?

Converting to metric will not eliminate debt.

I have no intention of converting to the metric system. I will not convert to fit into the EU. Leave my measurements alone! I'm the one cooking here!

It might not eliminate any debt, but it could add some money to the economy from all those cooks buying new measuring spoons/cups.:)

I'm with FG19. I think our way is easy, that said, I have to find my "jigger"!

1 tsp = 1/3 tbsp = 15 ml.

Cook's magazine tested a bunch of liquid measure things for accuracy, most were wrong.

The metric system really shines when doing unit combinations or conversions.

Recipes in Germany (for example of metric) use weights more than volumes, so do many serious bread bakers in the US.

Sorry FG, all the science that keeps planes in the air is done in metric these days. There is a lot of metric use in the background, they just hide it from consumers so they aren't called EU socialists who are going to force you to speak French--the language of love, they say. It's a crazy country we live in.

I don't want to join the EU, nor am I a socialist. I am a "right wing nut" or so some on this forum think, but I have always seen the value in the metric system as soon as I was introduced to it in high school. I know a good thing when I see it. And I don't mean doing stupid conversions like "well how many quarts are in a liter anyway?" There is NO need to make that conversion. bust the quart fruit jars and buy liter jars. and you wont need to make stupid conversions or need a calculator. or keep you quart jars until you accidentally break them, and when you go to the store for new ones, they will be in metric units. Same for everything else.. heck for as many years as I can remember my tape measures have had both scales on them, and I always use the metric scale, and it is so much easier to use. Example, dividing a board into equal segments. is a heck of a lot easier when measured in metric instead of dealing in fractions. And lest you think I can't deal with fractions, you would be wrong. I can do it with the best of them. But it just isn't handy. Judging by the number of hands in the air, I seem to be in a minority here with my metric rant.:)

Flip them over and I'll bet it says: "Made in China".

If metric is the language of love, someone needs to come to Texas and take lessons. The French have nothing on my Texas and Southern boys! And that's all I will say about that, as I could get in trouble.

My recipes are in Imperial, and I love to cook, so measurements need to stay the same here!

I did, and the country of origin is not indicated - there is nothing on the back of the spoons - and the original packing was thrown away decades ago.

How many recipes did I mess up??????
