Well let's see it's been 2 days... has anyone seen a post by John?

:D

He is away at a retreat and won't be around any electronics for a couple of days.

And no, it's not "Kubotas Anonymous"

yeah -- I was pretty sure when I posted that..
BUT the moment seemed funny...

however I am quite sure there is not a Kubota Anon meeting that could handle John.....

John-- Please don't take this the wrong way-- you have helped me more than you could imagine and I have a great deal of respect for you..

Well, it's here. The dealer delivered this morning about 9 and took my L4630 away. Seeing them side-by-side all I could say was, "Wow, it's tiny!"

Pros: My wife likes the size. The FEL has a surprising amount of ooomph for something so small. And it's very maneuverable with great visibility all around!

Cons: The operator's station is really cramped, and with all those levers surrounding the seat I have to be really careful what I grab when mounting. And the lack of power compared to the Grande L is really startling. I can easily walk uphill twice as fast as this tractor.

My tach seems to be malfunctioning. It reads about 1800rpm at idle, but the feel is the same as the L4630 at idle. With the throttle wide open the tach reads about 3200rpm -- does that sound right? At 3/4 throttle the tach swings back and forth from 1500 to 3000rpms even though the engine sounds hold steady.

But I think it'll grow on me. It is incredibly nimble, which should make mowing a pleasure. And the R4s are really gentle on the turf.

Congrats on the new B3030. I'm sure it will grow on you quickly. I do think your tach is not reading properly, that sounds awfully high. You are correct on the nimbleness. I'm ready to sell my lawnmower now that I've mowed with my B2630 a couple of times. With the HST and the quick reverse, I can actually manuever better than with my small garden tractor. :)

Enjoy !

Fear not, John has a really good sense of humor and enjoys the back and forth, I too have a great deal of respect for him and have benefited from his knowledge base and willingness to help.

Hey Thomas. Yes, the dealer installed spacers with the R4s. He also tossed in a rear light, block heater and free transport for the first service which was pretty cool since I didn't ask for any of those things.

The wife drove it today and also commented on the lack of power. On the plus side, she approved the purchase of a belly mower since it's so gutless compared to the 4630 she didn't want to have a 3PH mower tagging along behind the rig. I like belly mowers.

Now if I can figure out how to transport a 3PH post hole digger without it dragging the ground I've be a happy camper!

Careful, old friend, or I might ride up there and camp out in your yard where my snoring will disrupt your lifestyle!

This change was to make the wife happy. I'll continue playing with my mini-excavator.

Any time Pete. Sucks you could even camp out at the lake!:D

My hearings not what it used to be so the snoring isn't an issue.

Congratulations on your tractor. Someone mentioned pulling the hanging auger forward and tying with a rope to get the auger bit higher off the ground during transport.
Guess who's backkkkkkkk!
