Very nice machine! Great photos and seems like you have started the NEW YEAR right. keep the AGS OR AT LEAST r4'S, I PERSONALLY LIKE THE R4, BUT ags would be my next choice.

 after using it with the Ags for a few hours now... I'm really toying with keeping them...Will they tear up the yard too bad when soft? We have about 3/4 acre on the side that seems to stay soft all year round. 

That is a question that none of us can really answer I think. Since we are not there, and even if we were, you never know till you run the tractor on the ground and see.

But I can tell you, that on my BX I don't regret buying a set of bar tires (similar to ags, but maybe not as deep of a lug) and don't think I will ever see the turfs on my BX again.

R4s are not that gentle either. They will sink in soft stuff and leave a mark. So it is a matter of degree.

But turfs will spin and divot the ground too when it is soft and wet if there is a slope, and the R1s might live a depression but not spin.

It is really tought to tell which is all around best.

Biggest problem is that a set of tire for the B7800/B2910 costs about $1,000 if I remember right. So it is important to get what will work best for you the first time.

Tough choice really.

Wonder if the dealer would be willing to wait to do the swap? Maybe you could work something out where you would pay him say $100 later for different tires, after you tried the tractor for say 50 hours?

Just a thought...I think I would be willing to pay $200 even to test out tires for a while, if I had the option of trading them in without too much loss if I did not end up liking them.

Might not hurt to ask the dealer and see what his response is.

R4s look macho and are a good compromise tire, but I do kind of wish I had gone with the R1s now, but that is somewhat do to the fact that I don't need the larger tractor for mowing anymore.

I guess in a nut shell it is hard to say which would be better for your needs...

Congrats on your new tractor. Your gonna love it!!!!!

The Ag's do look good on there, but yeah, they probably would leave marks in soft turf when mowing. I opted for R4's and they work okay for me, but I have to admit, there are times I wish I had Ag's.

Herno is right on the money on this. R4's will also leave marks on soft turf.
The more manuveriing you have to do, the more marks you will leave. However, R4's should not be as hard on your yard as R1's (Ag's).

The traction in the mud and snow was unbelieveable compared to the turfs I had on the other tractor. What about mowing though? Will they tear up the yard too bad when soft? I bought my Bolens Tractor new in 1966 with turf tires. The first thing I had to do was put chains on it because it would spin on wet grass and was totally helpless on snow. Never took them off since I put them on 38 years ago except to repair or replace them.
I swore I would never buy another tractor with turfs.
My BX23 has the ags I wanted. Wouldn't trade them for anything else.
Today I dug out a small tree and a couple of stumps. It was 60 degrees here today when it gets that warm in winter time the ground gets fairly soft. The BX23 ags did leave impression of the lugs in the ground but they did not tear it up. After I finished digging out the tree stumps I drove my lawn tractor with turfs length wise of the BX23 tire tracks 2 or 3 times and you could barely tell the BX23 had been there.
The FEL Bucket and the BH stabilizers tore up the yard far more than the ags did.
I don't mow with the BX 23 when the grass is wet or where the ground is wet or soggy. I leave that to the lawn tractor with turfs.

Here is one way to look at the tire issue.
If you want turfs for mowing for 20% of the tractor use but need ags for the other 80% of use.

Putting turfs on for mowing means you have the wrong tires 80% of the time.

I am happy to see you enjoying your tractor.
As for mowing with the ag's. Well, I mow in 2 WD, and I go slow. Nice big turns. I don't have any issues with leaving marks behind, or tearing it up.

Nice looking Kubota, you all ought to be proud.

We have used both the ag and R-4's. The ag's didn't tear up our lawn too bad but then they were mounted on a 25 HP tractor at less than half the weight of our present 40 HP rig. We run R-4's now and are pretty happy with them overall. If you put them to work in the mud they will turn to slicks pretty fast though.

You may want to consider keeping the tires that you have but that's a choice that you'll need to make for yourself.

Keep the tires and buy a ride on lawnmower specifically for mowing, you can probably get a decent ride-on for the price you will pay for an RFM or a belly mower. It may take a little longer to mow but you have an excuse to be outside and in a tractor seat. Just my two cents worth.

I thought that "bar" tires and R4's were the same thing. R1's are Ag tires, right? and I know what they look like. R4's are the Industrial tires? What are the bar tires?
