I have a single rear wheel one ton, Bri-mar 12,000 at 18 ft trailer,, handles it great,... My last Dodge had a 373 rear and 4 spd auto and I couldn't pull it through Bigelow Hollow. I'm sure you've heard of this if you haven't been through it, anyway, tradied for a new 07 with 410 posi, 6 spd auto and the new 6.7 Cummins engine, two of my older three Dodges were 6 spd standards with 410's and 5.9 Cummins engine,, This new set up does as good if not better than the older pick ups.

Well I will add my 2 cents... I have a silverado 2500hd gas, tc40 with loader, 6 foot bush hog, rake, box blade, hd 7 foot rear blade and so on and so on. Pull it on a 20 foot PJ deckover bumper pull. No problem loading just put in
2nd and drive up ramps put loader bucket against stop, get off tractor and walk past tractor (plenty of deck left around tractor). walk down beaver tail
( beaver tail is made out of angle iron with the point up for the deck, it knocks any mud off the tires and makes for no slip loading) Gently lift the spring assist ramps and slide to the outside lock position and lock in place and go. My wife who is 47 5 foot tall and 120 lbs usually takes care of the ramps as I chain and un-chain the tractor.

This is a decision you will second guess the rest of the days you own the trailer.

GOOD LUCK!!!

There's nothing wrong with the battery on the dumper. My truck has the aux wiring to the trailer it's just not hooked up. The battery need replacement soon and I also may get a trickle charger for it. I just know I'll forget to charge the battey and head off on a long trip to find a dead battery. And since it's power up power down I'll be up a creek.

Guess I should of said; With a direct feed from the tow vehicle, you don't need another battery on the trailer.

I'm 98% sure I'm going with the GN. So I was planning on ordering the B&W turn over ball, is anyone here using it? If so did you install yourself? My truck is a 7.5' bed so where is the right place for the ball? I'm also adding air bags so that will increase the quality of the ride. I want to make sure I get the placement of the ball correct.

When you get the B&W kit it will put the ball a few inches in front of the axle & tow great as we have that in one of the farm trucks is a 1996 f250 psd with 5spd.

You wont regret the gooseneck set up.

I put in my trailer order today. I got the 20+5 GN with self cleaning dovetail. Third ramp, spare and I just need to order the B&W. The trailer will be here by next week, I can't wait. I just need to find a place to park it now and I'll be all set.

I have installed 3 of the BW hitches. Ford and Dodges are a easy job, about 1.5 hours. Late model GM's are a little tougher. You need to remove a exhaust shield and loosen the bed from the mounts then re tighten when you are done. They take about 3 hours to install on a GM.

All in all I like doing them myself so I know everything is straight and tight. The directions and hardware are first class.

For you folks who have the turnover balls did the 47" placement work? I find is strange that both long and short beds are supposed to be drilling in the same spot. The direction say to account for spray on bed liner thickness. That statement makes me think placement is critical. If 1/4" at most is goint to make or break the operation. I was also wondering about the holesaw. Is the size 4" od? The directions are bad and I could call the tech line.

I've done two so far, Chevy and a Ford. The directions are good, also go to their site, a lot of good info there. I also have the 5th wheel adapter for when I haul my camper. The 4inches is OD and the measurements will make sense when you line up the side plates. I also put on bags from AirLift.

FWIW, my experiences with trailering have mostly involved double and triple axle open and enclosed trailers hauling race cars, tractors, off roaders etc. with Dodges, Chevys, Fords and Internationals. (My current tow vehicle is a 95 Range Rover pulling my other Land Rover on a 18' beavertail double axle open deck with ramps. BEst described as barely adequate, but it looks good for my Land Rover specialty business!).
The GN's were always the more comfortable, and more stable devices for me. The bumper trailers always seem to make me more aware of pitch and yaw-tail wagging the dog.
Scariest trailering moment: Damp road , slow sharp corner on the way to Summit Point Raceway and the 48' GN begins to make the F350 rotate around the front wheels. Quick steering input and the recovery was successful, but there was that moment....
