Re: It\'s Here!!!!

Larry, I remember now /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I'm off to the hardware store tomorrow AM for my washers. Thanks. I wonder if the L48 buckets work with the L39?

I got a price on a 12" bucket today......$775.00! Holy $hit! They also said nothing will be available until June.....unbelieveable demand.

Re: It\'s Here!!!!

You don't need a bucket anyways. Just keep poking that stump with the stick and I am sure it will give up eventually /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Its a good thing you are still excited over this tractor being new or else you might not be having a good week /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Re: It\'s Here!!!!

Sky,

I did not know the loader control was guide by wire....I like it. I like the positon and the feel.

The machine is definitely low, but it is very stable.

I'm getting used to the hoe controls now and really like the way they work. The valves are extremely accurate.

I'm still getting used to the GST. I just don't see the light there. I can't imagine how it will be productive for loader work. However, it must be because it's been around for so long.

Re: It\'s Here!!!!

Jim, that bucket looks exactly the same for a 121-3 excavator. Are the buckets exactly alike? Looks like it from the photos. Here's a pic of the bucket, looks like yours. If so, that's pretty neat IMHO. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Re: It\'s Here!!!!

Blake,

Is there anyway to get a closer picture? I love to know if it's the same! How is the bucket attached.....Is it a long steel pin at the base of the bucket? I'll post some more accurate pictures if necessary.

Especially since I was told no buckets would be available until June and a 12" would be roughly $800.00 Thanks.

Re: It\'s Here!!!!

I took a pic few minutes ago. It don't show well, however there are 6, 1 1/4 washers that help make the lynch pin pretty tight...

Re: It\'s Here!!!!

Rat, not anymore! LOL. I work at a rental company now so I drive everything under the sun, the only draw back is that I'm not actually doing work with them like I did my last job, I loved that stuff. I'll be switching jobs soon so hopefully I can get back into that. Here's a closer pic. of the bucket Jim, the bucket has a single pin towards the back of the bucket that has a snap d-ring at one side to keep the pin in. That's all there is to it.

Re: It\'s Here!!!!

Wow Jim,
Now I understand why you moved to that beast! NICE!

And taking the new rig into the mud! YOU DA MAN!!

Vermont mud at that!!

I think the only good thing that came out of my tractor accident was that my lawn did not have to deal with my learning curve during mud season. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

But there is always next spring!!

Re: It\'s Here!!!!

Coop,

Thanks for that picture. I've been out of town for a few days, so no TBN.

It really does look the same! I wonder if I could call Kubota and ask an engineer if it would work or not. Maybe I'll give that a try.

Re: It\'s Here!!!!

Larry,

I guess I didn't put enough washers in cuz I lost it again, and this time I can't find it! I'm going to have to go to the rental place and rent a metal detector to find the pin tomorrow AM. If that doesn't work, I'll have to go to the local steel place and try to buy a new pin and make it myself. There's lots of dirt and rocks where I was pulling some stumps and it's going to be hard to find. What a bummer. I think I'll weld the pin on next time. I little shot the the MIG ought to do the trick. Extremely poor design Kubota.........

Re: It\'s Here!!!!

This is my solution....I bought a 14" long piece of 1 3/16" steel rod and tightened on two pipe clamps to keep it on. It'll be relatively easy to remove now. The pipe fits perfectly. BTW...I actually bought a metal detector and looked for over an hour where I had been digging trying to find the factory pin...no luck. My nephew is lucky....he just got himself a new metal detector /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: It\'s Here!!!!

An alternate to the clamps would be drilling the pin and using bolts. Obviously the engineer never ops ck'd his work.
You may want to summit your repair to the Kubota Corp for review and possible upgrade in design/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: It\'s Here!!!!

I don't think bolts would work very well. First time digging in a trench and the bolt threads are hammered over thus not being able to remove bolt (easily) to change buckets.. I've been through this a hundred times and found a tight washer stack works well. If it is loose at all, you will continue to lose lynch pins

Re: It\'s Here!!!!

The pin is behind the bucket, My bucket has pins with cotter keys that are easily removable and are not hammered. I don't see why the bolts would not work but then again I don't have a OD bucket.

Re: It\'s Here!!!!

The clamps are just temporary until I get a chance to fire up the drill press. I am concerned about the bolt route due to rocks destroying the threads. That hoe point is not the place for anything but hardend steel. I'll likely weld a plate on one end and figure out something more permanent for the other end. I don't want anymore too permanent.

Pulled her out of the garage today and wasn't thinking. I ripped the whole top of the garage door trim off and it was sitting on the FOPS /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I'll give you some details about the hoe when I take it off this weekend.

I don't remember reading anywhere if you ever took off the hoe. Did you ever get it off? How difficult was it?
