<font color=blue>"By the way, Chubby Checker's daughter, Misty Bass of Wisconsin, is a 6'3" All American high school basketball player..."</font color=blue>

You're correct Glenn. Misty is from my home town, and in fact, played high school ball for my wife's alma mater. A fact which she, my wife, is happy to remind me of since I went to the OTHER high school in town./w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif

Misty is one fine young lady. She's a straight A student, and a real down to earth kid. And I have to give a lot of credit to her Dad. He frequently came in to town to watch her play, but he always kept a real low profile when he was here. When asked by the local media why that was, he said that he didn't want to take anything away from Misty's success or cause her any distractions. We all were real pleased for her when she made a very intelligent decision to go to Duke, even though we wanted her to attend UW. /w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif

Re: It\'s Rumor Time... What Will They Change?

Garry, I am a huge fan of women's basketball--in particular the UConn team, which just went undefeated. I saw Misty play in two all star games this month. Her father came to watch her at the Hartford Civic Center. She seems like an extremely talented young lady. Duke will probably go to the final four next year, and she will certainly get the best academics, too.

Re: It\'s Rumor Time... What Will They Change?

Glenn,

I have to admit that I'm not a big fan of basketball. But it sure has been fun to follow Misty's development over the last four years. Her school, Parker Senior High School (named after George Parker - founder of Parker Pens) had not visited the State tournament with the girls basketball in quite a long time. along comes Misty, and they go every year while she's there, and they win the middle two titles! I think that says something about her ability. Oh yeah. She was also named All State all four years. That's a feat that no one -male or female - has ever done before.

I expect that she will contribute greatly to the Duke program, and I hope you enjoy watching the games. I know she will do well academically, because that was her #1 priority in selecting a school - not just the basketball program. Of course, that didn't hurt! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Re: It\'s Rumor Time... What Will They Change?

I'll second the breaks/hst control on separate sides so they are useful, and I'll second the desire for more that 3 remote outlets.

I'd also like to see much greater loader capacity, 3PH capacity, and much greater hydraulic flow. I see no reason why the L4610 shouldn't have the same loader capacity, lift capacity, and flow capacity as an L48.

I'd like to see a better governor on the Grand L motors. I posted about this some time ago and after driving another Grand L, I've concluded there is a findamental design difference between the Grand L governor and the B series. My B2910 regulates the engine speed within at most 100 rpm, and under most cases it's within about 50 RPM. The Grand Ls swing by hundreds of RPM (200-300) under only modest load variations.

I'd like to see an L4610 with a bigger motor rather than a 4310 motor reved higher. Who needs the extra noise, vibration, etc. when running at PTO speed.

Last, I'd like to see a bigger Grand L, say a 60HP version, or just give me an M series with an HST - that would work too.

Re: It\'s Rumor Time... What Will They Change?

My first impression was oh no - seeing as I just bought my L3010 one week ago. But first year models for many of the brands are not their best offerings, if ya know what i mean. They seem to be more prone to little things being wrong with them.

Also, as for moving the brakes to the other side, instead of having them by the hydro control, I'd think it would be better to move the hydro pedal over to the other side. Doesn't seem like you'd have to use the clutch and the hydro ever at the same time. Being a lefty i might adapt a little easier to this setup than righties ....but i really don't think that would be an issue.

Re: It\'s Rumor Time, boogedy, boogedy . . .

if u are really interested in the 3710, go ahead and buy it. if they do revamp the l series i am sure they will be more $$$ and the 3710"s that are still left will still be the same price, just less expensive than the newer series. just my thoughts! don't wait for what might not happen.. or not be worth the wait. YOUR CHOICE.

Re: It\'s Rumor Time, boogedy, boogedy . . .

My guess is the rumour is true. Sooner or later all small tractors will be subject to Tier 2 emissions regulations. Chances are they will need a new engine to meet the requirements. I don't know if the JD 4010 series is Tier 2 compliant but I am sure the Kubota is not currently.

Also I thought it would be worth mentioning, since I have seen a lot of discussions about it, the eHydro system in the JD is very similar to the electronic hydrostatic transmission offered in their dozers. The electronic system has served them well in the industrial market so there is no reason to think it wouldn't work in small tractors.

"Don't suffer future pain." Not sure who wrote/said that.

I use that one a lot at work. Things move so quickly and we have to adapt over night. If I hold off on doing something now because of what might happen I'd never do anything.

The loving words of my wife: "If we can afford it and it makes you happy, dear - then get it."

Re: It\'s Rumor Time, boogedy, boogedy . . .

I think our wives are related. Mine is so happy that I don't drag her in the yard to move boulders in the wheel barrow or haul brush for the little chipper that she can hardly stand it. Of course, I've noticed her spending a lot of time looking at sewing machines and related equipment.../w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif
