I love the construction models! The Farm Toy Show comes through St. Louis in February and I can hardly wait. I just started buying some models last year. Some of the Cat Dozers are really beautiful.

Where do you get most of yous, mail order?

In your photo #3, in the center of the photo, to the rear, there is a crane with a large white tubular telescoping mast. What kind of crane is that a model of ?

A lot came from Ebay, a bunch more came from online stores and a few more came from other people who sold their collections. I get the best deal when I buy an entire collection from a seller.

That is the Demag AC 500. Terex bought out Demag and Conrad now only offers that model as the Terex/Demag AC 500 SSL (sideways superlift) for $330 in the US.

Conrad also offers the luffing jib for that model that extends the boom to over 10 feet long but if you go with the jib you need to reinforce the crane as it can not support the weight of the jib on its own.

Jib cost $200 and while it is impressive, you need a huge room to display it properly. Otherwise it is just too big for most rooms which is the problem I had and the reason I returned mine. (that and the fact it collapsed my crane /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif)
