It\'s tree removal time!

I've been procrastinating long enough. I have too many trees where I need roads and building pads.

This is the beginning of a burn pile. I've tried three different times now to get it to burn without success. Guess I'll wait for them to dry out some.

Every tree in this picture will be removed.

These little pines just fall over real nice and easy. Hopefully they will burn nice and easy also.

This is one of my girls. Not sure which one from this angle since the color of their tongues are the only real difference.

The creek is half mine. The middle of it is my southern boundry.

This is my bottom-land and it's extremely thick. The dozer didn't have the trees to deal with so much as an accumulation of brush. It really builds up fast!

Around here if I had those kinda trees growing I would call the lumbermill and have them do all the work. I'm sure they'ld love you for it. But on the other hand I've seen some pictures of your toys, a fella just has to go out and have some fun to.

One pass through the trees creates an opening for me to take my measurements.

The trees that fall over with just push are down. The ones that take some effort are still standing. I'll worry about them when I get some of this mess cleaned up.

My goal is to get as many trees down as I can to allow them time to dry enough to burn. I'm also talking to some loggers, but my requirements aren't what they want to hear. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Some of these pines are fairly large. I think the wet ground has made them easier to knock over, but it could just be the tree. It seems to me that during the summer months, I was having trouble with pines much smaller than these ones.

Re: It\'s tree removal time!

This will be a road. It took four passes to get to this point. The first pass was just an exploration one to see what I would find and to give me something to work from. Then I took some measurements to determine the angle and exact width that I wanted it to be. Now all the major stuff is down and I can start cleaning it up after some drying time.

Re: It\'s tree removal time!

I burned a bunch of pretty green wood using two bales of straw and about 5 gallons of diesel to get it started. Once it started, there was no putting it out, not with all the green wood in America /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: It\'s tree removal time!

Deisel and a fan and you can burn anything. It had rained solid for weeks when Ihad my place logged. Piled all the branches from 80 or so trees with a bunch of wet brush then laid on 15 or 20 good sized stumps fresh from the ground. Poured on some deisel, lit it and then turned the fan on it. We burned stumps for four days(about 80). The fan got it going real good and after about three hours we no longer used the fan.
