Couldn't agree with you more, Cindi. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Muhammad has done a masterful job of keeping it nice and friendly, too. A true family-oriented site. If you like to read as well as write (you're already one of our top storytellers), you might enjoy reviewing a couple of threads that reflect the kind of community we have going here:

TBN ers most civil people on net?

TBN and civility

I've been to a lot of other "discussion" boards, but I could never get used to all the foul-mouthed sniping that dominated their forums. TBN is a breath of fresh air that is downright addictive. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Oh, yeah -- there is one other site that comes pretty close: CountryByNet.com. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yes couldn't agree more with Harv.

Harv is one of our "Elder Statesmen" around here.

Well not so much elder but more statesman I suppose /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

By the way, where have you been lately Harv?

I am sure you will have a great time here at TBN Cindi.

Cheers /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: I\'ve been to a lot of forums....

I have not been to many forums. What I can say about this one over all the others I have been to is that the layout is by far the easiest to navigate. I check dpreview.com on occassion and do not like the forum format. Muhammad has done a great job developing and making this site easy to use even for those who don't know or don't want to know all the in's and out's of computer usage. Three cheers to Muhammad, hip, hip, hooray, hip, hip, hooray, hip, hip, hooray. Rat....

Re: I\'ve been to a lot of forums....

Harv,
I checked out the threads you mentioned, and also added countrybynet.com to my favs list.

There has been much controversy in the past in other forums regarding how to define rural living/country life, and what is considered an appropriate post/thread. I noticed here that the posts tend to meander gently around other topics that don't directly involve animals, tractors, crops, needlepoint, etc. I find that encouraging. Variety is the spice of life. Some fine folks have the ability to grasp the fact that we weren't all born with a hayfork in our hands, but can still be devout country folk, however recent our transplant. I have been in the 'country' for three years next month. I love it enough to be prompted to write about it on an almost daily basis.

If I can keep from being kicked off for my ramblings and musings and occasionally lengthy prose, I will consider myself fortunate. I am a columnist for our local paper and anything I write here (or on any other forum) that has been sparked by a response to another post etc, is subject to possible publication. I do some of my best writing when bouncing ideas off of other country folks. So many of my stories have started out with 'oh, that reminds me of.....' They are not all happy and uplifting. I have done some serious greiving over the loss of animals, etc. The stuff that life in the country is made of. Thanks for responding to me. Have a great day.

Cindi: In my opinion you have no worry about getting kicked off for your most excellent and delightful "ramblings and musings."

Regarding your use of your writings here in other publications, I don't know if the following exerpt from the TBN Terms of Service apply or not but I just thought I would point it out:

"By submitting items to TractorByNet.com for inclusion in the website, and its Discussion Forums, the user grants TractorByNet.com a royalty free, irrevocable license under all intellectual property rights (including copyright) to use, copy, distribute, sublicense, display, perform and prepare derivative works based on those items."

You'll see a number of familiar names over there, especially at the management level. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Nobody has ever been kicked off for rambling and musing, as long as it's kept civil and tasteful. In your particular case, I'd say it's more likely you'll become one of the most-read contributors. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

A lot of transplants here, and some of us are just part-time country folk. Many of the best discussions begin with the questions of those who are looking to make the transition.

Keep 'em coming. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

More elder than statesman these days. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Life has cut into my available message boarding time, so I had to make adjustments. I could either read fewer threads or just not post as much myself, which always takes longer. I've chosen the latter for now 'cuz I just hate to miss anything here or on CBN.

Don't get too used to it, though. I plan to make a comeback when things ease up on the home front. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

No....I don't anticipate any problems. Anything I say here is merely the gist of what it might be when published. Kind of like a reader's digest version. They can do whatever they like or not with anything printed here.
