Re: I\'ve been to a lot of forums....
Harv,
I checked out the threads you mentioned, and also added countrybynet.com to my favs list.
There has been much controversy in the past in other forums regarding how to define rural living/country life, and what is considered an appropriate post/thread. I noticed here that the posts tend to meander gently around other topics that don't directly involve animals, tractors, crops, needlepoint, etc. I find that encouraging. Variety is the spice of life. Some fine folks have the ability to grasp the fact that we weren't all born with a hayfork in our hands, but can still be devout country folk, however recent our transplant. I have been in the 'country' for three years next month. I love it enough to be prompted to write about it on an almost daily basis.
If I can keep from being kicked off for my ramblings and musings and occasionally lengthy prose, I will consider myself fortunate. I am a columnist for our local paper and anything I write here (or on any other forum) that has been sparked by a response to another post etc, is subject to possible publication. I do some of my best writing when bouncing ideas off of other country folks. So many of my stories have started out with 'oh, that reminds me of.....' They are not all happy and uplifting. I have done some serious greiving over the loss of animals, etc. The stuff that life in the country is made of. Thanks for responding to me. Have a great day.
