Correct. I misquote when I say pic. It creates the scene one tiny dot at a time with heat measurements and a programmed color for each temp.I am assuming those are all false color images since Webb is supposed to be primarily an IR scope? Pretty cool, in any case.
Somewhere in my memory of early reports I am thinking they said 480F difference between the sun side and the dark scope. They are currently at 453F difference.The Where is Webb? page shows a lot of temp measurements but it is lacking in what the targets are. Like you said one temp is -396 which is like only 36 deg Kelvin or 36 above absolute zero. But what do they need it to be? Is it already there? Does it need to go lower? Enquiring minds...
