Are you refering to the pieces from the attached photos?!

And the part key 3 / the gasket - why is....against the oil-escape or against only the powder....

There cant be oil pression - thats whay I ask about this.... Tomorrow I will dissassemble that cover..... The steering is working, but almost only manually..... verry rarelly the PS is working.... Its seems to mee as if some piece sometimes tight or constipated...and moving hardly.........
Some models used open center steering system. The cover was different with a return port in it. The gasket works for both versions. Your tractor has return oil in the cavity you will open up when you remove the cover.

OP's tractor was built for European sales in Mannheim therefore open center steering wasn't offered according to parts catalog #4152.

Hy, Jim.... Finally - today I removed my JD 1020 power steering column... And now its at repairing....if they succeed...

BUT - the hydraulic oil looked like very used - its like the coffee -so probably contains water.... and it has very bad smell... Its mainly an oil-condensed water emulsion...

So - I have to change it, and also the hydraulic filter... Is it going to be good if I put JOhn Deere Hy-Gard transsmission oil - 36 litre (9-10 gallon), specification 10W30...?????

Hy-Gard hyd oil is what I use in my JD. Depending on how much water is in the oil one may need to change more than once. If so I recommend changing the 1st or 2nd time with a cheaper replacement oil. Also check breather on hyd filler cap to be sure it's not plugged and look a shift lever boots to be sure they're not cracked especially if tractor is parked outdoors.

Hi....Thanks for answering...

I attached some files... First two: oil and water under PS column....and oil-water mud... Do I have to clean it...? Do I have to do it again later , periodically?

3 and 4 photo: the used oil from the PS...like a coffee... Photo 5 ....the breather, but its closed with a screw...is it a big problem, or it has to have an open hole? Photo 6-8: oil mud... The last photo: I suppose that the oil pressure from to PS unit comes out on that two holes? So maybe the oil mud and water mix could be only a subsidence, which is not a part of a high pressured hydraulics system?????

Looks like some serious oil mixture there, and not sure what I'd choose to do in your case. But a minimum would be to fill with a cheap oil (maybe even some filtered used oil) to circulate through the system, then replace with good oil. Hope for the best with new transmission oil filters each change.
I believe it is part of the hydraulics system, unless the German-made tractor is different. Hopefully you have a service tech manual for the 1020 and can find that out from the hydraulic charts.

Thanks...

I going to change the transmission oil and the oil filter.... if I read corectly, the filter code is AL25554, or 60/240-1, or AR28072. I do not have a service manual for this JD type.

If they change the JD Power Steering Column Seal Repair Kit in my tractor power steering - theoretically is it going to work?!

If I was getting a hyd filter I'd choose AR75603.
AL25554 Filter Element - Filter Element ADD 19.36 USD
AR75603 Filter Element - ELEMENT,OIL FILTER ADD 8.03 USD
