After looking at a lot of machines, I got it down to the 1025R vs the 1710. Looks like I'll be going with the JD. The three things that did it for me were the blazing fast implement change-over times, my perception of the resale down the road, and the price (I have access to a price through a good friend I could not get by just walking up to the dealership). That said, the JD image appears inflated to a degree by the JD name among those who don't even use tractors... it's THE name in yuppie enclaves like mine I think. Up until the last minute, I was open to the GC because I really liked the guy at the dealer in CT.. he seemed much more focused on tractors than my other guy, but the price I have on the JD is perishable and ticking down... Despite asking twice, I haven't got a final best cash price on the GC, and I need to move...It feels like a forced decision now... I own/run a technology company and there are some things in the tractor world that just don't seem very business-like... they don't appear to be in the SELLER'S best interest. Not a complaint... just an observation, but they appear happy to live with reduced sales and opportunities. Looks like I have to go find the green forum, which itself is a pity... my favorite color is red:) Thanks for the help guys.

I am a born and raised Green guy but now I bleed Red and have no regrets. You must be getting a great deal on the JD, as when I bought my Massey in 2010, it was $5000 dollars cheaper then a John Deere 2320.:confused2: Best of luck on your decision as I think both are good tractors.:D

"Blazing fast implement changes"...........if your lucky enough to get one of the tractors that actually works as advertised.
I wanted a 1026R at one time, but just constantly see too many horror stories about the latest John Deere products.

Good luck.

I don't think the deck is faster to take off than what it is on a bx and that setup is reliable. I bet 99% of 1 series owners leave the deck on all the time.

Thank you for the responses guys. I'm interested in fast implement changes because I'm extremely impatient and like to kill work as fast as it can be killed. That and I have a tractor now that takes four hours to convert from winter to summer and summer to winter. Time to live at the other end of that curve for a while. Yes, it's a very good deal (the dealer and I share a long-time very good friend who brokered it for me) though something still feels like the MF is the preferred platform for my needs... I'm not in love with green but it has the functionality I'm looking for. If the MF dealer didn't 1. go stone cold dark on me without communicating and then 2. manage to conveniently forget the $2k cash discount on the TLB after he finally came to, I'd have the MF and I'm sure gone with the blower and the mulching deck too. Guessing I probably dodged a bullet by not having an continuing commercial connection to that kind of businessman. In any case, thank you for the good luck wishes and good luck with all of yours as well.

I have heard the JD with the auto connect deck is tougher to put a snow blower on.

We were at the JD Open House and they had a factory Rep there and even with the deck sitting on level concrete and a rubber mat it took one guy, that lives on a farm, 3 tries to get it to connect correctly. The Rep was right there with him too. I wasn't too impressed.

I bet I could take the deck off the BX as fast as what it takes to do it on a 1 series.

I don't doubt your comments gentlemen, but the fact that Deere has made implement change over for everything a top priority tells me something about their thrust as designers (my job). Nothing will be perfect but the direction in which the effort has been made works for me. And I'm saying that from the position of my intuition favoring the MF... I'm not excited about the Deere but I have no doubt it will work. I do wish I were excited for what I'm spending:) And... MF has a problem for me that JD doesn't... the sales channel for my preference was just dishonest... blatantly, remorselessly in-my-face dishonest and MF lost the business and grew a critic. The sales channel is just as real a part of the deal as the platform. I'm planning on calling whatever MF exec handles their channels after the dust settles and discussing as a long-time business owner how disappointed I was with his dealer. Maybe he'll care... maybe not.
