JD 1025R vs GC1710 eval being cut short

Thanks IrvingJ... printing that reply out and putting it in my tractor folder. Very useful to me! I found a shipper through uship and was quite pleased with his service.

Even though I haven't used the backhoe for more than an hour, I have an idea for a fabrication project that will make puttiing it on/off very easy... at least the alignment stuff.

At this point, I think the Sears will continue to do mowing duty and the MF will get jobs that involve moving/lifting/throwing stuff. I'm not quite sure what a quick-hitch assembly is but I'll keep looking.
Hey... it's not just 400 hours that's similar. I think I'm in there, or ahead of you, on that aging body thing!
First pic on this page has a good view of the front quick hitch:

I have a 1026r. Around 100 hours. I take the mower on and off every time i mow so far it works great. Just do it on concrete. The loader has been on and of at least 10 times no problem. I really liked the gc2400 and i thought it was the best scut for the money. Problem was the dealer was 80 miles away. Five deere dealers closer.

The auto connects that don't work correctly are not a product issue. It is 100% a dealer set up issue. If they aren't aligned properly, then they will not attach/detach properly. Once aligned properly, they work as advertised.

Now the procedure to align them properly might be too complex, and that is a product flaw. But it is one that is easily overcome with set up mechanic training.

I concur with popsie & adj187.

I have a new JD1026R (2012 model) with 50 hours. The dealer aligned the drive-over quick connect deck perfectly. I have no problem, except the mower deck sliding on my sealed, smooth concrete pole barn floor - easily cured with a rubber mat or concrete.

Even my wife was ok with me upgrading from my JD 445 tractor due to this feature, as I am getting too old to roll around on the concrete floor hooking up mower deck pins & drive shafts, etc. IMHO, it is definitely a beneficial feature for "those of us of a certain age" and / or various body damage .

I think you will like it.

Try hooking up a 9' sickle cantankerous sickle bar if you want frustration. Seems to complicate the situation that I always do it in the 100 deg. heat.

Bingo!

I once owned a NH 451.

Great mower but a PIA to attach.
