As long as you are happy, that's what matters. I was the opposite, I was happier with the Massey dealer then the John Deere one.

Thanks. I checked CL one last time before driving over to get the JD and a 2310 with 400 hours at a very attractive price showed up. Talked with the dealer and put a deposit on it. It's 400 miles away so I'm going to fly down in a couple of days, inspect it, pay my bill and then figure out how to ship it. Anyone have any thoughts? I've shipped motorcycles around using uship and will try that here.

To add my experience: it takes me about 2 minutes to either put on or take off the FEL; Takes more than that, maybe 6-8 minutes, to put on the MMM, but only about 3-4 mins to remove it; BH takes me about 10 minutes --or less-- to remove, but I still have a time when getting it back on. Often takes me about 15-20 mins to get everything lined up right.
When setting up for winter, FEL comes off, front quick-hitch assy goes on, then the blower. Total time perhaps 30 mins. Later on, I leave the quick-hitch in place and put the FEL on (when I feel I need it, which isn't often) right over it; about 10 minutes or less to convert from blower to FEL.
3PH --I have a tiller I use twice a year-- is another story; just haven't had enough practice, I guess... maybe 30 minutes to get it on, 10-15 to remove it.
Bought mine in 2007, and have loved having it ever since; one of the best investments I've ever made. Cut my snow removal time (and remember, NO snowbanks or huge piles with a blower) by about 60%, lawn mowing time by at least 75%. Really. Lawn mowing went from around 5 hours with a push mower to a little over one hour now; no big deal anymore. :cool2: Not to mention a whole lot easier on my (hate to admit it, but it's true) aging body.
Good luck! And... you might check with a local trucking company: they might have, or may well know of, someone who travels in the direction you need to bring the tractor home. I brought an '82 Virago 750 back from Phoenix that way some years back.

After seeing all the threads that continue to arise about the same on-going issues with all the JD scut and cut models I would be very afraid to touch one.
Yet all the people that own them and have to keep returning to the dealers with leaking fuel tanks, bent loader stands, bypassing hydraulics, broken axles, broken pto's and non-working auto-connect decks still claim they are the best?
Can somone please explain. Am I missing something here?

Turfmaster-- Glad you got your 2310! I'm away from home on vacation now, just checking some forums this AM. I'm certain you're correct about the fabricated rig to hold/store the backhoe; there are a number of threads on this site dealing with that, and I bet that would make putting on or removing the BH a LOT easier. I just haven't gotten there yet.
One thing I did do, however, was to have three hydraulic hoses about 2' long fabricated to make the BH process easier. That has worked well, and has allowed me to lay the thing down on the "ground," actually a small concrete pad, and retract the stabilizer arms to keep them covered up (inside the cylinders) to protect them. The OEM hoses are so short, in fact, I've decided to leave one of my "extensions" on permanently.
The quick-hitch assembly is a carrier, or "shoe," that's necessary to attach anything to the front and use the mid-PTO. It comes with the intermediate driveshaft, the lift cylinder, and a shoe onto which any front attachment slips (and locks). It also has two pillow-block bearings and a short driveshaft that transmits power to the attachment. (I'd post pics except I'm on my iPad thing.)
One more thing-- go ahead and try that MMM! You won't believe how quick it is and how well it works, I suspect. Have fun! WBB

Try hooking up a 9' sickle cantankerous sickle bar if you want frustration. Seems to complicate the situation that I always do it in the 100 deg. heat.
