Wish I had the turfs back that I had on the 4010 on the front. The R4 industrial do not have near as much grip for turning as the R3 turfs. Think the R4s are tougher, but I never had an issue with toughness of the R3 rear tires on the 4010. Had to eventually replace the R3s on the front. When/if I replace the fronts on this 1025, I'll put turfs on just to get the turning back. Just yesterday, I went to turn on our pavement turnaround area, and the fronts just skidded.

I went with the turf tires because my dealer told me the 4WD should take care of most situations for a small landowner, and he's been in the biz for decades. After 2.5 mos. & 70 hours of run time, I agree with him.

I have my snow thrower on order, so we will see how that works. Dealer told me no more need for tire chains - 4WD with turf tires will be sufficient. My previous 2WD JD 445 with turf tires definitely needed tire chains on the drive wheels. Even then I skidd the front steering wheels sometimes.

Turf tires have the best traction in snow/ice too, so you're good to GO!

My 4010 with turfs did great in the snow.

You are going to see a world of difference on snow from 2WD to 4WD. Unless you have some steep inclines, you will be set. Just curious as to what surface you will be cleaning, i.e. cement/ashphalt or stone/gravel.

But NOW...we need the DETAILS of this snowthrower. Front mounted or 3pt? JD/Frontier or other? Size?

Inquiring minds want to know...

1. Main drive is conccrete, app. 70' x 50'
2. Pole Barn drive is asphalt, app. 60' x 50'
3. Roadway is asphalt, need to clean up county plow drifts
4. Back "40" drive to woodpiles is woods trail
5. If a big snow, I assist the older neighbors - all asphalt driveways.

I'm gonna spend the bucks for the front PTO version. I already have a front rotary broom as it is very sandy/dusty up in the glacial flatlands where we live, so need front drive anyway. I kept the 52" rotary broom from my JD 445 knowing I'd get a front snowthrower & PTO drive kit.

The 3PH rear mount is too hard for me to drive backwards - I have medium length very wide driveways. Very unusual compared to lots of country folk with narrow long driveways.

Anyway, going with JD, my dealer is very good. Two choices, 47" or 54" width. Had the 47" with my JD 445, going bigger now! I have seen varied comments about Deere's smaller, composite polymer blower fan, we shall see how well it does.

Pics in app. 1 month.

Sounds like you are all set. We moved up from the 47" to 54" last year and am impressed with the amount of snow it can handle and spit out the chute.

Looking forward to your pics in about a month.
