I lessened my troubles yesterday. I went to the farm to do some sledding with the family and move some snow. It was the kind of light that doesn't let you see the snow you are driving into very well. The drive was clear enough for the van on Christmas, and we have not had any measurable snow since. Well, it blew in the drive, and I couldn't tell how deep it was before I was too far in. My 4wd pickup actually plowed snow for a few yards with the grill! I finally got the doors to open, and fetched the tractor. It was quickly obvious that it would take forever to clear the lane scoop at a time. So I picked a path through the field next to the lane that was on higher ground. I plowed that with the rear blade in 15 minutes, pulled out the truck, and abandoned the lane. The path will be muddy with the thaws until I can get some rock down, but this is going to be the new lane. I will also have to smooth out the transition back down to the original lane so that is isn't steep. Good project for the bucket and box blade.
I may be changing rear tires soon also if the tire store ever calls me back. I sure like the front blade idea after moving snow yesterday. For moderate snows, that would be much faster than anything I use.
