Have a leak on the front axle gear case between the fixed housing and the swivel housing. Parts diagram picture shows a wear sleeve and a seal but the parts lists shows both being the same which seems kind of weird. Dug up a 'solution number' 86016 that implies this wear sleeve is part of the seal or seal package (LVU 25945) but not really clear. Curious if any of you smart people out there have attempted to fix this. If I can get this side repaired I may go into the other side. It is not leaking, but I did not like the looks of the fluid that came out of it. May have a potential problem there.

Without image, I'm unclear where you suggest your leak is. Despite that I can tell you the following. The front axle assembly is not vented. Almost any day, the axle will build pressure as the temperature increases, for instance, from overnight. This is a daily thing and no different than the fuel tank.

Upon receipt of my machine, I found front wheels completely black on the rear side because of front axle oil leak and debris sticking to it. Static operation in warmer temps sometimes resulted in small puddles inboard of the front wheels. I was dreading tearing in for a seal job.

Over the last several years, I just get in the habit of burping the front axle and the fuel cap. I really don't have a significant leakage issue anymore.

I do have another new front axle dip/fill stick. My plan is to drill a vent hole in it, insert a nipple and extend a hose into a protected area for permanent venting.

FYI.

Fixed that problem of venting by not tightening the dip stick/fill tight. Leave it a bit loose and that front seal leakage went away. Unless submerging in water, shouldn't contaminate the fluid. This is on the 4300..

Interesting. Have never had that problem with any of my machines and I'm in some pretty hot country. I'll take that advice to leave that filler not so tight. Water getting in is not a problem here. Dust more so. This particular problem was definitely caused by a bad seal. Refer to:ttps://partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc/sidebyside/equipment/64686/referrer/navigation/pgId/83557766

Item #12 and #13 was my confusion. In the mean time I have disassembled the beast and item #12 is metal piece actually called a wear sleeve. Its about 4 inches in diam. and is pressed up into the casting and provides a smooth surface for the seal. Then a tech bulletin was uncovered where they suggest setting the new seal 0.046" below the casting surface supposedly providing better sealing. We will see. I used the old wear sleeve to set this and a piece of pipe to press in the new wear sleeve. While I was at it I took off the housing to look at the gears and man, what a job that was. Don't do it if you don't have to. They are in with lock tight from end to end and real 'bugger' to get out. After lots of grunting and pushing (equivalent to three days in a gymnasium) they came out and the gears up there and bearings looked pretty good. For anyone anticipating a problem here, down below I did find gear #22 (bevel gear) with some wear but it is only $1180.00 (gulp, gulp, cough, cough) so I determined that the wear wasn't that bad after all. The ring gear down there is only $1380.00.

Completed project previously mentioned...drilled straight down fill plug and then in from side with 1/8" drill. I then cut a 90 degree section of old copper windshield washer squirter nozzle and seated into drilled hole. I then packed cavity with RTV. Lastly, i ran a piece of windshield washer hose up under the RH engine bay side cover and attached hose to hydraulic line, end aimed downward.
