OK all, I have good news and bad news tonight...
I finally got all the adjustments set correctly and the 3PH is working as it should. The first adjustment is hidden two pages after all the others and the wording leads you to believe that step 3 is also step 1. Finally found the real step 1.
OK, bad news...
In the process of doing the final steps, I lost a 3/4" deep well socket into the bottom of the transmission.:ashamed: I'm going to have to tear it all apart again tomorrow to find the socket.:confused2:
Well, now I'm going to go watch a movie with my sweety and try to make the rest of the evening go better.:thumbsup:

Time will tell. I hope I can salvage the gasket, or it will be around a week to get a new one. I'll know more tomorrow. I have to run to a friends place in the morning to borrow his engine hoist again. Then remove the seat and 3PH cover, then I get to start looking for the socket. I just hope I don't end up having to drain the 15 gallons of hydraulic oil
The adjustment I was doing requires sticking the socket through the oil fill hole to loosen a locknut and then adjust a screw. I had made the adjustment and retightened the locknut. As I was removing the socket, which was on the end of a 12" extension, I bumped the side of the fill hole knocking the socket off the extension.
In the lower half of this picture on the right side is a large gear. Just to the left of the gear is a yellow forked piece. The screw and locknut are visable at the base of the fork.
The socket should have dropped into the oil between the forked piece and the housing and left of the gear as the picture sits. Finding it is going to be interesting. I tried using a magnet on an extedable shaft, but there is just too much in the way with the cover on. Hopefully it will work better after I remove the cover, but I'm not holding my breath.

Well, I got lucky. After removing the 3PH housing and fishing around for about 3 minutes with the magnet, I hooked the socket. I think the gasket will end up being OK, but time will tell. Here's a picture of the socket hanging from the magnet as it was being pulled out.
The last few parts for the right lift link are ordered and the parts I have are getting painted. Should be replacing it soon. I've pretty much decided to replace everything on the lift links except the handle for tilting it.
Current cost for everything is just under $900. Not too bad for a complete rebuild including the lift links.
I keep thinking that it would be nice to replace the draft arms as well, but if I end up doing that it will be with extendable draft arms and they are about $700 each. That will be a project for another time after more important systems have been refurbished.

It's all the rain we get around here. Everything's green. That's why we're called the Evergreen State. All the rain makes things grow really well. Believe it or not this was a garden tractor when I got it. Look at it now. You can see how much it's grown.:laughing: A few more years and I'll have to put duels on it front and rear.

You're right, but three minutes sure doesn't seem quick when fishing for a socket in a transmission. I was suprised when it came out. I was getting close to the point where I would have drained the fluid. Glad I didn't have to.

Well.....
....Here's the tractor and tiller my wife said she wanted for the garden.:laughing:
I'm told this was a 60" tiller when they put it out.:laughing:
