I have been troubleshooting a charging problem on a JD2305. Found out that I could jumper two wires on the K3 safety relay #1, and now the battery shows that it is charging.

Still can't get the battery lamp to illuminate. (on another working JD2305, this lamp should light for a few seconds after starting, then go out after the battery begins to draw current...)

I've read that the V6 diode may play a role. It's a cheap enough part, but damned if I can find it based on the electrical schematics. I can't find any 3A or 1.5A diodes that have the wire colors that the V6 diode is supposed to have (Lt green, and red).

I have used forum posts to identify the V7 and V4 diodes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a follow-up question.
I recently replaced the voltage regulator, and FINALLY, got the battery light to come on when the tractor is started. I measured 14.2v across the battery. Soon after, the battery/charging light faded and went out. I assume this means the battery is done charging.

All seemed well.

I did notice that the regulator seems very HOT. Hotter than I would guess. basically too hot to touch for more than 4-5 seconds.

Now the battery charge indicator is on all the time. Last time I put the volt meter across the battery, I read 16v.

Do I have a bad regulator? (it was a non-JD brand from amazon)

Love this tractor, but it certainly seems to have elecrical issues. I've also already replaced the ignition switch, and a diode.

I do not know your particular JD but often they cluster diodes in a BLOCK i.e. a number of diodes in what looks like a relay and is located with the relays.

The safety stuff is to save certain electronics from a backwards booster connection and not SAFETY in the normal use of the word.

Sir, did you find that v6 diode? I think mine is bad as well. It has several of those diodes. Mine just stopped charging battery. Changed the regulator and a safety relay and still having same issue. I want to check that v6 and v8 diodes if I can find them. Thanks
