Alright. Was finally able to get a buddy who's a decent diesel guy over. We went through what I've done, double checked there's fuel where we need it and such. Pulled injectors in an effort to see if they're atomizing the fuel. When we pulled them they look bad (according to him, two were really bad and one kinda bad). Couldn't get fuel to spray out of them while cranking engine. Fuel squirts out of lines to injectors, but not the injectors themselves. So...looking like I need to find me some new injectors. The obvious online places are JD branded places and charge JD dealer prices...~$220 per injector. New injectors for a newer Dodge are half that...WTH? I'm able to get filters and other parts from non-JD sources. Nothing easy has been found in my search for injector options. There's a diesel injector shop up in the big town I guess is solid and trustworthy I can call tomorrow, but does anyone have a cross reference for fuel injector replacements for the 2305? Seems like with all the Yanmar engines in the world there ought to be a relatively painless way to make it happen.

Yeah, finally some useful info supporting exactly what I've said all along!:cool2:
Now see if the diesel shop can rebuild them. If they can't I may have a source for you. Remember, if your injectors are that bad you could still have issues with your IP, but the fact you're getting fuel to the injectors at least, is a good sign.
Post back what the shop says. Post some pics of the injectors before and after for us.

Whoa, not yet. When you feel like buying a Kubota, then set it on fire!:D Seriously, you're close to a solution but need to answer some more of my questions to get to the bottom of this problem. First, understand that diesels work off compression ignition, CI. That means fuel and engine spinning creates compression, and when the atomized fuel is compressed to where it explodes and moves the pistons in the cylinders, then your engine is running. High compression takes place of spark in a gas engine. So your engine is turning, when you crank it with the starter, and therefore you have compression. Now you need atomized fuel, which it would seem you are missing. Was there evidence of water in your fuel? If so where did you get the fuel you have in your tank now? Have you checked you oil level and looked for it to be overfilled or any milkyness to it's color or consistency? Do you definitely have fuel delivery to the injectors when you crank the engine? Please answer these and the other questions I posed in my last post so we can get you back on track. Thanks, CM
i think it may be time for that new kubota:)

Fuel injection place in the big town says the tractor's injectors are done. New ones from them are $206/each. From JD dealer they're ~$220 & local dealer was a PITA to deal with, always have been. They've not been good at any point. Glad I didn't buy it from them.

Anyone know of a non-Yanmar/JD injector known to work on these? I've found much cheaper (some better) filters from other companies. Perhaps there's a cross reference chart for injectors?

hello Brock.

it seems like you have a hard time with the 2305. I think the only way to get injectors is you jd dealer or take a note of you yanmar engine serial number plate and get them trough a yanmar engine parts supplier. I have did read all the stories and it seems to me that you need to do more maintenance if you leave the tractor outside. running without maintenance will cost more money in the end and you can't blame that on the brand tractor you have because other tractor will have the same thing sooner or later. just bite the bullet and do maintenance yearly or let a professional do it (green light check over is only 299 cad or so.
here some injector pictures. John Deere - Parts Catalog

injector are 272,19 I canada a piece but there made by yanmar so you can check them to.

if you get new injectors in bleed at injectors and try it full throttle goes faster. if you have them all three spaying close all three set at idle and glow and start and It should run.

good luck.

Letting the fuel go crappy (and any associated damage) is squarely on my shoulders. Couldn't dispute that if I wanted to. However, as far as maintenance...I've done all scheduled maintenance, all of it and there's been no problems, until now. Haven't bad mouthed JD tractors, but I sure have expressed displeasure with the dealerships. I like my Dodge truck, but drive past the dealership when I need parts, for the same reasons I avoid the local JD dealers.

The fuel injection place I went to went straight to Yanmar and didn't deal with JD. I went in to JD to get prices. They had...issues...getting information from Yanmar. Anyway, I'll get this thing the new injectors and at the very least have a **** of an expensive bonfire.

I am not questioning your maintenance or anything just sharing what I was told by an old diesel mechanic and farmer. The first small compact tractor I purchased my neighbor a farmer and old retired diesel mechanic stopped by to look at something that small. He did the tire kicking, raised the hood and drove it around for several minutes and said I like it. He then said don't get offended by what I am about to say, he then said several will tell you to run home heating oil and other fuels because diesel is diesel. His opinion was there is a difference.

He advised the injectors in the small tractors were very small and had a small pintle and clogged very easily and were very expensive. He advised to always use pump road diesel, and add about four ounces of marvel mystery oil along with two ounces of Diesel Fuel Supplement to prevent gelling and boast the cetane numbers to five gallons of the pump road diesel and I never would be calling on him for service help.

I have followed his advise over the years and have never had a filter to clog or an injector failure.

Just to put a bow on this...it's running. In the end: new fuel filter, new fuel & new injectors. Running as good as ever. Might paint it pink, call it Nancy.

PS: thanks for the assistance folks.
