John Deere 2305
Hi, I have a john deere 2305 tractor and the back u joint needs to be replaced. Can anyone tell me the best way to remove the shaft? It looks like the whole thing has to come out but I can't seem to get the flooring off so that I can see from the top. Thank you so much in advance from any advice on how to repair this.

You unbolt the transaxle from the frame and slide it back. The front of the shaft has a roll pin iirc that you access through a panel on the right side steering column base area.
To get the floor off you remove the fenders and rops first.
Lots of info on this for 2210/2305. Suggest you cut an access panel so you can grease the u-joint periodically once you get it back together

If your yokes are still good and you just need to replace the u joint there's a utube video showing how to do it without unbolting the transaxle

Deere only sells the driveshaft assembly and not the ujoint. I seem to recall there's a Moog part number that matches up by dimension -you can probably do a search for it

I found the whole works with u joints and end shafts all attached on ebay for less than JD wanted for just the shaft. I want to thank you for your help It made everything a lot easier. I just got it all back together and now the PTO wont kick in. Any ideas what that might be? The switch seems to test ok. There is power going in and power out when you pull the switch.
