JD 2520 with independent (joy stick controlled) MMM lift kit problems

My neighbor has a JD 2520 which has a dealer installed independent (loader joystick controlled) mid-mount mower lift kit. It has worked well for 3+ years but now usual joystick movement to raise and lower the mower (similar to raise or lower loader arms) no longer works.

If he connects the hydraulic hoses to the other 2 joystick couplers (curl/dump movements for loader) the mower will raise and lower.

His hydraulic fluid level is correct and there is no sign of a leak.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Does sound like a coupler or valve problem?

being since the deck cylinder works fine when you switch connects, sounds like you have a valve problem.

He hasn't tried loader yet.

I thought this also. He tells me it is intermittent. If it stops working, switching to the other 2 couplers and then back to the original ones may allow it to work again for a while. Intermittent obstruction somewhere?
