We currently have a John Deere 4240S with a 265 loader. One of the hydraulic cylinders (AH150053) is leaking badly. We have had the cylinder rebuilt once, if not twice, so are thinking the rod is possibly scratched. I haven't been able to find a used cylinder anywhere. Does anyone have any suggestions? Buying through JD is terribly expensive. Do you think it would be cheaper/better just to get a different loader?

Check with a local hydraulic shop to either rebuild and guarantee the cylinder or suggest an equivalent replacement. Either approach is probably better than John Deere's pricing and probably far less than a new loader.

I’d think a new cylinder from JD would be far less than a new loader. You can probably get aftermarket but it probably takes someone with knowledge to pick the right one.
