As I explore all the possibilities for a possible upgrade to a CUT from my 445 this next Fall, I'm curious about the experiences of owners of the new 4010 model. While the specs seem to portray a capable small CUT, I'm a little concerned about a few limitations that may exist. I guess I'm basing my conjecture on a comparison between the specs of the 4010 and the 4110.

First, the 4010's fuel tank is a bit smaller. Second, the PTO horsepower of the 4010 is low enough it might limit rotary cutter size to a 48" max as well as the possibility of using a tiller or small rental overseeder. Third, the hydraulic system's lower GPM capacity may limit implement size and speed.

Do any of you think I would really notice a substantial difference between the 4010 and the 4110 in these areas? I know it's kind of a no-brainer that the greater specs will produce better results, especially on bigger jobs. I'm just trying to develop an educated rationale for saving or spending the approximate $2,000 difference between the two models.

Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences.

Pete,

Being an engineer, I overanalyzed the specs before my purchase. Bottom line, the 4010 will do everything the 4110 will, only a little slower. You need to drive them side by side (don't know if they are shipping the 4010 yet) to see for yourself.

I ended up with the 18 HP New Holland because I couldn't justify $2K more for the 21HP. I find that the HP is well matched to the size of the machine. If I was tilling gardens or brush hogging / mowing commercially, I'd go for more HP.

FYI, you aren't going to get an overseeder or larger than 48" rotary cutter to work well on the 4110 either.

Oh, yeah...another quick/dumb question:

Is the MMM deck on the 4010 and 4110 a suspended type of linkage like my 445 or is it similar to the Kubota 7500 that rolls on the guide wheels as you mow? The 17-year-old covering the sales floor at my local dealer wasn't sure.

Thanks again.
