JD 4010 vs 2210/2305

I think Cliff is correct you are comparing smaller CUT's to the 4110. If you really want the features you are describing then you would have to step up in the Kubota (B7510 or other), and Newholland/Massey (DX24 or other) machines to make the fair comparison. If you want the correct comparison to the machines you have given, select the Deere 2305 and those numbers will be much tighter.

Now that I'm seriously considering "kicking it up a notch" as Emeril says, what about the BH? I spoke to the dealer again, and he quoted Can $8000 for the model 46 BH. Yikes this is getting expensive. At least it's still virtual dollars. Is $8K a reasonable price? Does anyone else like Woods make a BH for the 4110 for a non JD price?

When I looked at getting a BH for my 4100, they had just cameout with the 46. The best price I came up with was around $5000. I found a Wallenstein for around $4000, but it was a 3-pt mount, not subframe. I ended up doing wihtout a BH. I did improvise a lot with a hydraulic trenching attachment.

If you actually have a lot of digging, then you are going to want a real TLB machine like a 110.

If I had it to do over again, I would have gotten a used mid-size to smaller skid-steer and then sold it after the house was built. Then, I would likely have gotten something smaller like a 2210, or BX.

I and several other members have the 4110 and 46BH combination. It is a very nice combination. They are perfectly tuned to each other. The 46 has a solid sub-chasis mount that comes off and goes on fairly easily -- though I wouldn't want to do it every week (it takes ten minutes or so). The 46 has good power and a depth good enough for the work I've done with it. Still, it's more for stumping and trenching and digging holes for planting trees and the like. I wouldn't recomend trying to dig foundations. There are just much easier ways to do that.

I wouldn't go much smaller with a tractor if you want a back hoe. While the smaller ones have power in the BH, the tractor size, stance (BH stabalizers to FEL bucket), and weight have a lot to do with how effective and safe a BH is (just my opinion).

Before I started considering this CUT instead of the sub-CUT's I'd been looking at, I was very interested in the BX23 and MF GC2310. However, no one around here stocked them. The BX2230 I must say I found a little crude compared to the Case DX/New Holland TZ series. The local Massey dealer didn't even stock a GC2300, so I'm not going to consider what I can sit on and try out. There are a few Kubota dealers around, but again only special order the BX23. I'm torn with the "need" for the BH. Of course I can find things to do with it, but is it worth the money?

I think for my needs the power and size of the 4110 would be more useful in tilling/box blading/landscape raking plus lots of loader work, vs a sub-CUT with BH. But the BH shure seems like the most fun! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I wonder if the Woods BH6000 BH fits the 4110? From their website it seems it will if I use a 3pt hitch mount, not sure about any frame mounting.

Many JD2210 owners have the woods BH6000 setup. Reading woods website it appears there are two (2) models , one for the 3 PT hitch and another that has the sub-frame mount. I do not see any reason why this BH would not fit on the 4110. I priced it at a local Kubota dealer and it was about $4000. That was if I was going to install it. The JD dealer wanted @$7000 for for the 46 BH. Lots of money if adding it after the trator purchase. You might be able to do better if getting it as a package deal along with the tractor. I am heading in the the woods direction as long as it will fit.

I paid $5,955 for the 46 BH (installed, including the power beyond hydraulics) when I bought my 4110 last year. It was on his lot, he's usually pricier if he has to special order.
