I have to go look at mine again. I thought I saw the vent tube on the (passenger side of the tractor). As in if I am standing in the front looking at the battery it is on the left rear. Where is your vent tube again?

Standing in front and looking at the battery, the vent tube would be on your right side (see picture above). The dealer drilled the hole (per drill filings) for the vent tube. My new battery has a nipple on both right and left rear sides where the vent tube can be connected and the opposite nipple/connection has a soft vinyl cover on it. I noticed a plastic plug in the metal floor plate on the left where the tube could have gone down thru -- not sure why he chose to put it on the other side.

Tn, which Optima model (group) did you use and what specific modifications did you have to make?
If I'm not mistaken it's the group 34 red top. The Optima is just a tad bit bigger than the factory battery so when the mounting plate goes back on the holes are off. I took a drill and elongated the holes on the plates. This allows the bolts room to screw back into the original holes. The hood opens and closes the same and no problems with the hood latch which is on the plate. I may have a picture of the holes and will post if I do.
ETA: Sunnyside360, I guess you can tell I don't log on much. I'm just now getting your PM's from back in July. Sorry about that.

Tn, I received your PM and will go with the Optima Red Top Group 34 if/when necessary . Hopefully your problem is solved. Please let us know of any future problems with the Optima. Many thanks for the info.
