JD 4520 cruise control "max speed" problem

Given the limitations of the "max speed" function - I can't imagine why anyone would ever use it..

You arent kidding. I've been meaning to order up the enhanced cruise for some time but after reading this, I dont see the point. Why I really wanted it was for the max speed function, This spring I used cruise to till the garden and it worked slick, but with no Resume function and having to hit the reverse pedal or switch to kill it every time, it was a PITA to use in my relatively small garden. MAX Speed was exactly what I was looking for.

Yeah, the enhanced cruise control comes down to:

1) Resume feature for regular cruse control.
2) You can incrementally adjust your cruise control speed with a switch.
3) You get a motion match switch to select two different settings.
4) You get a load match switch up on the dash.

As always, depends on what you're doing.

Deere, are you listening

Hey, that "Max Speed" feature is like an "Electronic block of wood" under the gas pedal. :D

It is a cool feature though.

slan, that's a great way to describe it .

Unfortunately, it's only useful on flat surfaces. If it was truly a max speed set by the speed you were going when you set it, that would be very useful. It was easy for Deere to implement, but not very useful for most situations.
