Backhoe JD 48 Backhoe question

Starting to get serious about buying the 48 backhoe for my 4400 JD. I'm a pretty big guy at 6'6", 350 lbs. I can't find one of these on a lot anywhere close and am wondering if there is enough room on the operator platform of the hoe for a guy my size to operate it effectively. Any big guys out there with a backhoe that can offer advice?

Sorry, but I am ONLY 5'11" 200Lbs.

Its pretty open, but then, I usually leave the front seat moved pretty far forward when the hoe is on. That way, the seats don't scar each other.

I have a buddy that is in your "frame size" I'll make him climb up there next time he's by. Of course, I have to get him off too. He's kinda partial to toy - ls... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I forgot to mention that I tried out an SMC Backhoe (model85) and it had a larger operating area. I think you'd like it better for personal fit.

I rented a 4700 with a 48 and had no problems( I'm 6'2"@270)other then I had to return it when I has done /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I'm looking into buying 4410 with a 48BH Good luck Shawn

Given you've got the 4400 already, the 48 is the biggest BH you can get. I'm 6'2" and 230 lbs and I have no problem climbing over the the driver's seat and then stepping onto the operators seat where there seems to be plenty of room (the seat is pretty open on the sides). But you'll need to find a dealer to buy it from anyhow, and it's a pretty common item for them to have in stock. Maybe order it with an option to not buy it if you don't like the fit -- they'll surely move it pretty soon to someone else.
