JD 5055/5065 price check and questions

Do a bit of a google on overheating hydraulics, faulty rear svc, melting fuel tanks, and where this series of tractors is made. Perhaps the issues are sorted now, but I've decided against buying this series JD.

Don't see to much anymore of the overheated hydraulics/melted fuel tanks. I would assume Deere weeded those issues out. As to where it's made, it may be India, but it's a Deere owned plant. I'd personally take one over anything Mahindra offers any day, but that's just my opinion. Had my 5045D for about two years now, zero complaints so far...

I have owned several makes and models of tractors over the last 40+ years. None have been 100 percent trouble free. Some had design flaws, others have had QC problems.
If you doubt tractors built in Japan or elsewhere don't have issues, just read this forum.
If you find a brand that's perfect, please let me know.

Couldn't agree more...I think we could search every model possible on this forum and find some sort of complaint about it. One problem sings louder than a thousand praises...

Somewhat unrealistic to expect perfection. Best we can do is make fully informed buying decisions if the info is made available. One of the best things about this forum is info sharing.

You seem to be surprised that there are sick people at a hospital. There are thousands of these things sold and the anecdotal evidence that you have provided is proof of nothing - it is statistically insignificant. Sharing of information is great. Thinking about that information is great too.

Yes there are flaws in all of them, or at least in some individual units of any line you care to mention. The worldwide economy has it's advantages and it's disadvantages. You can export designs and assembly processes to where materials ,labor and market are closest and most efficient ,but you have to deal with the local language and government and it's tax burden. Some of that is good some of it is bad. They are all in a competitive war with each other and the ammo they fire at the enemy is each individual tractor coming off the assembly line and the customer service given to it's purchaser. If they start firing duds into the market at any time they will be in trouble. After all it does not matter how good a JD model B was or a Farmall super C. You can't buy a new one of them even if it was the perfect tractor for your needs.
It is not "are they all perfect?" But "how many out of a thousand have problems?" and what does the company and dealer do about it if the one you bought has a problem of flaw? You could put up with a lot of flaws if they made it right on their dime, and didn't leave you hanging with a cash crop in the field.

I have been looking at the 5000 series as well. Specifically the 45 or 55. As I understand it, you can either get the 60 months interest free or 1500 off if you pay cash. My dealer gave me a quote to trade and I would just as soon pay cash as the deal says 60 months interest free OR 1500 off if you pay cash! He told me he had all the discounts already built into the trade and that I couldn't get the other 1500. off. Huh?? I don't get it!! The deal doesn't say that and I don't get how he can say that if I don't want the free interest deal! It makes no sense to me! He had no idea I was going to be saying that I wanted to pay cash so I don't know how he could have even built in the 1500 off into the deal and then offered the interest free too. I wonder if he now realizes he offered me to good of deal and doesn't really want me to take it. I don't really have a clue.
The above has been troubling me. Anyone have any thoughts as to this deal he has put together for me? I have checked with another Deere dealer and a Kubota dealer. They have both gone out and inspected my trade and neither has bothered to call me back to let me know what they could do. I don't get that either! Guess I am suppose to call them and see what they came up with. Have to do the selling and buying both, I guess!
