JD 5065e Coolant Flush?

Learned my lesson sixdogs. Took your advice and flush,ran,empty,fill,flush all with distilled water. Replaced coolant. Tested: good to -34F. Heater works, AC works. Coolant clean/clear. Tractor operating normal temp in 106F ambient temp. Have on hand a new thermostat & gasket should the need arise. All good now. Thanks.

I'm getting ready to do a coolant flush on my 2012 5085M for the first time. I only have 700 hours on it, but it is close to 7 years old. According to the owner's manual, which list exactly how to do everything else, they say to take it to the dealer for the coolant flush. Is there anything special amount the 5M series engines that prevents me from doing the flush myself? Mine does have a cab and the heater core is in the roof of the cab. Don't know if that makes a difference or not...

I forgot that I purchased the repair/tech CD manuals when I got the tractor. So below are some pages from it that explains the drain procedure and how to expel the air after filling it back up. I'm sure other engines of a similar vintage are similar.

I have the same engine in my 5520 and haven't taken the thermostat out in two coolant changes. I drain it all, run with flush, rinse with a second distilled water run, drain and refill. I used JD coolant and it works for me. I bought the gasket for the thermostat housing but looked at all the things that could go wrong and opted out. I didn't see a problem. The JD parts guy at at a big dealership said he didn't sell many gaskets so I figured others did the same.
