Good deal on the buddy seat!

You're right about the apples to apples. I basically picked the best tires possible using the configurator for each model, and yes, that adds $2,914 to the M over the e. Both comes standard with the 16.9R30 / 11.2R24 Bias tires. Interestingly enough, the 18.4R30 / 12.4R24 Bias is only offered on the e, and the same size tires on the M are radial. Those are what I'm hoping can be had on the e as well, or even the Michelin's Agribib's but based on my past experience getting my dealer to try something not readily available in the configurator, I'm not all that optimistic.

Dealer actually believes the corner exhaust is included with the deluxe cab, so it should not be charged a 2nd time. That's why I have it in red on my spreadsheet, and I'm *not* including that line item in the total price. You got me on the buddy seat, I should have added that to the cost of the e. But you're right, I should subtract about $4,000 from the M to make it more of an apples to apples comparison.

Interesting note on the engine differences. I know the 2012 5085-5115 Ms now have "electronic engine control with common rail fuel injection for smoother, more efficient power across all RPM ranges" according to their August 2011 press release. So perhaps now the Ms have even better fuel economy than before? I know this one 2011 5085M I was playing with at the dealer had to turn over several times before it started, and then it stalled and I had to turn it over like 10 times before it finally fired again. Perhaps I'm spoiled by the Yanmar engine in my 4700, as it *always* fires instantaneously, hot or cold. Of course that M only had 1.2 hours on the clock and had been sitting for several weeks. I know I was very impressed with the low noise level inside the cab with the door closed and running at 1700 rpm (540E speed). That is going to be such a tremendous improvement when cutting compared to my open cab 4700 running at 2600 RPM.

Dealer is also looking into the possibility of getting the 595 M frame and bolting the 49 hoe up to it. That would even the score significantly. From studying the parts diagrams, it looks doable. I would not need the PB on the M, which for some reason I do on the e, even with the deluxe triple rear SCVs, so that would be another $425 saved in favor of the M.

My heart still tells me the 5085M is what I need. I guess I just need to justify it to my wallet. :D

Something else to consider... are you totally committed to buying a backhoe? If so, have you thought about the differences in the construction of the rear transaxle housing?

As well, the EH hitch plays a BIG role in mounting/dismounting and hanging that hoe in place - if I'm not mistaken... IMO - I'd like that big 'ol fat @ss holding that backhoe down! :D

I'd guess that you've looked at the capacities for the 49 hoe vs the 595 hoe? The straight boom 49 is not gonna dig bucket for bucket with the 595!

That's a VERY good point. I have not had the "pleasure" of mounting/dismounting a hoe before, but I can see that being a real pain. I'm very familiar with the need to jump in and out of the operator seat when changing regular 3pt implements, and that is one of the reasons I am/was really looking forward to the EH control on the rear fender(s). With a cab equipped tractor, it will be a real pain to get in/out of the operator seat.

While I won't be using my hoe on a regular/daily/commercial basis, I do expect it to take full advantage of the tractor it is connected to, when I do use it. I have a few hundred stumps to dig out on level land (I'll grind the ones on the slopes), digging out an area for a pole barn, dig a 20x40 in-ground pool, do a septic field for the guest house/barn, and dig footers for a couple of additional structures. Those are just things I know I got planned over the next few years, who knows what the future might hold. I've got quite a few hours of seat time on a Terramite T6 TLB, and I'd like to think that both the 49 and 595 are more capable.

Pretty sure my 4700 along with misc attachments will sell tomorrow. If I get what I hope, I think I might just go with the M. The 2012 5083e is real nice, but there are features the M offers that makes it worth the extra dough.

pclausen,

I've been following some of your threads a while now and it seems as though a backhoe is rather important. IMO, although a little slow, you may want to consider a mini ex. Can get a nice used for $15-20k and although that is a lot more than a backhoe for the back of your tractor it is much more capable and a lot more function.

Appreciate the advice Martian and I might just go in that direction. Was at the dealer today and got all the financial paperwork approved and out of the way. I'm leaning more and more towards the M, and will likely get it without the hoe for now and explore my options further. The 595 hoe list for $13,710, so unless I can find one for close to the $4900 that my dealer has the 49 for, I agree that it would make a lot more sense to look at a mini ex.

YIKES, I didn't realize the 595 was that much, I though it was a little south of 10. Mini ex would definitely be the way to go. I saw the one below thinking about this same decision, though I'm searching for a 110 tlb. There's not much info on it but it has all the goodies.

I think your going in the right direction with the M as well. A lot now, but down the road it's a nicer tractor and will have more resale as well.

Nice find! That definitely makes a lot more sense than paying close to that for a 595. That 35 sure has a lot of reach and digging force for its size. Also, with a backhoe attachment on a cab tractor, I can imagine it is a real pain every time you need to move to the next stop. I'm not even sure you can change the throttle without getting in the cab. On the M, maybe, by reaching in through the rear window.

The ordering system was showing May delivery (for both the M and e), I sure hope that is just a glitch with the system and not how long it will actually take! Dealer did say he would let me borrow a used tractor on the lot to tie me over if need be.

He took me out and showed me a brand new 7280R that he just got in for a customer. Now that's a tractor! Super spacious cab and computer everything controls. Was around $190k I believe.

My thoughts exactly as well. Especially with having to get into the cab on the M and move it then dig again vs just moving the mini ex. I had my entire back yard redone two years ago (seems like yesterday!) and they had a Komatsu 30 hp mini ex, don't remember the model number but was an awesome machine. Really compact but very versatile.

May? Seems like a long time to wait! Maybe you can borrow that 7280! There was an old 7410 I sat on at a local dealer a while ago and its still advanced for the Utility/Compact tractors today let alone then.
