JD 5520 and number of plow bottoms

I know it was a JD 2940 that I was told was about 85 PTO hp, the plows, I do not know the model. They were JD with the hydraulic trip, I think 16". I know our 4230's pulled the same set of plows a little better with 1 dual on the tractor.

Just for the record, I think three bottoms is all I can handle. Your 2940 will pull around 7500 lbs and the 4230 around 10,000 lbs. I figure my 5520 would be on the low side of those and three is the max I could pull.

A "rough" rule of thumb was 20 to 25 hp per btm, 20 being for 4wd, 25 for for a 2wd. These being from what I was told were minimums.
