Fill port is behind the seat on the top of the transmission/rock shaft. Orange cap.

Roger that, thank you. I'll take a look tonight.

Another update on the 755, my brother and I were able to successfully re-install the hydro-trans yesterday. We ended up using a make shift lifting eye and used the ROPS to hoist it up, my brother lifting and I was underneath guiding it. It was a bit tricky getting it in there but after about 30 minutes, we succeeded. After that, we were able to get the drive shaft installed and the MFWD link sort of installed. We still need to get the pin hole to line up on the MFWD and will have to jack the front end in order to get it aligned and the pin re-installed.

After that, it's pretty much adding the Hy-Gard, checking the rest of the fluid levels and then doing a start up on it. What do you guys recommend for start up procedures since its been sitting a while? The tractor was last running to my knowledge at the end of November of 2016. Is there a way to prime some of the hydraulic lines and hydro transmission? And do you think I need to purge the fuel tank and add new fuel in it since its been sitting? Would just adding some fuel and fuel treatment be okay?

And lastly, I was underneath the tractor and there was a hose coming down from the front. Do you guys happen to know if this is for? Here's some a pic of it and the trans installed.

? Inside sitting that long, or outside? undercover or in the open?

Given the long outdoor storage it might be prudent to drain the fuel and be sure of no water. Fit a new fuel filter too.

Hydraulic lines should self-purge upon start-up.

With the seat base and floor off now is a great time to grease that driveshaft UJ shown in your picture. (The joint with the loose clamp bolts. Make sure you tighten them asap.)

The 'pipe' hanging down could be the engine breather tube. Follow it upwards and confirm it connects to the rocker cover breather?

So far - so good...

Thanks for the feedback, do you recommend the whole fuel filter assembly or just the filter (cylinder)? Reason I ask is, I picked up just the filter part today and will have to order the whole assembly.

You may have already stated but did you have the hydro apart or the charge pump off? If so I would disconnect the fuel solenoid and turn the engine over with the starter until the charge pump has built some pressure.

No, no.. Just the filter element. Pleated paper thingy. Install with the hole in one end upwards. It fits on the stub in the top of the housing head and will stay there while you fit the bowl and screw-ring over it.

I have seen several fitted upside-down. (Don't ask...)

Okay cool, I should be good to go with just the filter then. I'll be working on it over the next week and will post questions if I have any.

@texasranger - I didn't end up taking the hyrdro apart and left it pretty much in tact so the charge pump didn't come off. Should I still do what you recommend if that's the case? The upgraded hydro shaft with the castle nut and pin wasn't installed due to poor planning on my part. The technical manual stated to use a hydraulic press which I don't have so we just went with the screw and washer that the previous owner had put on it. I'm hoping it will last another 20 years and by then I might have a new tractor. :)

Did you put Loctite or similar thread-locker on the screw threads?

What happens if installed incorrectly? Curious, as don't think I've been aware of the fitting to the stub on my 4300, but do see that one end of the filter is open (hole) and other end closed.

The 'hole' fits over an O-ring on the stub which is the outlet to the injection pump.

Push it up. If it stays up, you're good. If it falls off try again...

With the bowl fitted the filter element is pressed up by the spring for security.

Diesel fuel enters the filter bowl, passes through the filter paper and is drawn up the middle to the IP.
Upside down - the closed end sits against the outlet hole in the stub, pressed up by the spring again but blocking the outlet, nearly. It usually sits a bit crooked and fuel can pass but it is not filtered as it, effectively, goes around the outside of the element.

tks
Am sure it is right, but will take a second look to be sure.

In the 4300 you have the benefit of the 'Red Ring' which indicates the presence of water when it floats up off the bottom of the bowl.

Item 16 >

The central hole in the 'top' of the filter element is also shown here:

I mis-wrote. :ashamed: The O-ring seal is in the 'hole' of the filter element. It grips onto the outlet stub.

Did you put Loctite or similar thread-locker on the screw threads?

Yes, Loctite was applied to the screw threads so I'm hoping it will last. I'm going to check the hose tonight when I get home and let you know if it goes up to the engine block.

Fuel fill overflow tube???

It does look like the fuel fill overflow tube. They degrade and pull away from the fitting just below the fuel cap.

Just wanted to give an update on the 755 and say "Its alive!". I was able to get it started this past Saturday and drove it around my yard a few times. Some things I noticed on it:

Start up: I followed the operator's manual precisely and the engine fired up first time trying. A little bit of black smoke and that was it.
Power steering: Its great and I didn't anticipate how easy it would be to turn the steering wheel. My Cub Cadet zero turn is much more difficult to say the least.
Parking Brake: didn't think it worked but turned out it does just the lever doesn't move that far up.
Tachometer/Odometer: The tach isn't working and I'm pretty sure that the hour meter isn't as well. I'll have to look at fixing both in the future.
Loader: the loader works fine and is able to go up and down without any problems.
Hydraulic Lines: Surprisingly, no leaks on them which I was glad.
Front right tire: has a small hole in it that needs plugged. I'll get to this weekend.
Fuel tank: I knew I had to replace it going in and when I bought it, it came with a new one. The old one leaks pretty badly if filled to high. I'll hope to fix this by weeks end. The previous owner said that he ran out of gas one time and had to re-prime the fuel system which was pretty time consuming and painful. I'm hoping it won't be that bad.
Fuel pump: I noticed a little bit of fuel dripping from the line or the pump, not sure. I might buy a new clamp and see if that fixes it.

We didn't end up using the left over HyGard on the tractor because it looked like it had been previously opened and weren't really sure if it was hydraulic fluid. This set us back a week and last Friday, I stopped by the local JD dealer and bought 5 1 gallon buckets of low-viscosity HyGard. I ended up buying some diesel fuel treatment from Amazon and putting that in the fuel tank and didn't bother draining it.

Thank you guys for all the comments and help. And one quick question, does anyone know what these two metal pieces go to? They came with the tractor in a bin of screws and bolts.

And one last question, does anyone know or can recommend a place where I can get a replacement front grill? The OEM one is simply out of my price range and the best I've found is around 350 after market.

I'm glad we could be of some help. Well done. Have fun. :drink:

I don't recognise those plates. They look like shims or spacers for something else. :confused3:
