Oil & Fuel JD 970 low oil pressure

I have a JD 970 that recently had the low oil pressure light come on will idling, if you rev it up the light goes off. I put a guage on it and it had just a couple of pounds of oil pressure at an idle. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem before or if anyone has had to adjust the oil pressure regulating valve before. My tech manual keeps refering me to manual CTM-3 but I have had problems finding it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would guess the CTM-3 is a Yanmar manual. I would try the Yanmar forum to see is someone has one.

I dont know if this applies to your tractor or not, but a friend had an old Oliver 550 that the low oil pressure light came on. Tested pressure and found it low.

The oil pan was all bashed in from hitting a stump in the grass, pushing the oil pickup up out of the oil. We pounded the pan back in shape and everything was fine.

Just something to check if you have been trail blazing lately.

I replaced a hydrualic pressure valve that sets in the block behind the oil filter and it fixed my problem. Oil pressure is back to factory specs.
