I was wandering if anyone has had any experience with dealers in my area. Looking for references and such. I have located about 6-7 within 80 miles and another 5-6 within another 100 miles or so. Any input would be appreciated. The dealer that I bought my GT235 is no longer in business. Looking seriously at buying a 2520, FEL, RFM, BB, Bush hawg. Thanks

Green South is the major dealer here in JAX. They have a dealership in Orange Park at:

611 Blanding Blvd.
Orange Park FL 32073
(904) 272-2272
www.greensouthequipment.com

Ther's another combined Deere/Kubota (go figure) dealership off of Kings Rd, on the north side of JAX. Can't recall their exact address off the top of my head, but I think I still have their literature...here it is, if it was a snake it would have bit me:

Coastal Equipment Systems
5287 New Kings Rd. (US 1N)
Jax, FL 32209
(904) 924-9624

The people at Green South are having a huge sale right now and will do virtually anything to beat Kubota or New Holland out of a deal. I went to check out their 4320 series, and the sales guy told me he'd beat anything from the other "big 2". Offered me the 4320 with 400x loader for $25100 out the door. He then called me at home two days later to see if I was ready to buy RIGHT NOW. If you go in with a legit quote for something similar from Kubota or NH, you can probably do pretty well.

Thanks, they are about 60 miles from me, so not to terribly far. I've recieved approval from the "Dept of Homeland Finance" so I will be visiting them next week.

I was close to the second dealer you mentioned so I stopped in. The conversation with the salesman was kinda short, I guess because I wasn't going to buy "that day" they weren't interested in talking to me. It sounds like greensouth was really wanting your business if they called you two days later. I don't want to spend my money with somebody that is going to blow me off, nor do I want to buy from someone that knows less about their product than I do. I'll be making another trip to Jax to check them (greensouth) out.

Man, if I had that rule I would be seriously in trouble and would not own anything nice! I take buying many of my "toys" very seriously and since I earn the $ to pay for them I do a ton of research. A dealer may support an entire ag fleet of products, I concentrate on just the few that meet my needs. I also have a vested interest in knowing all the ins and outs I can - they just need to know enough to make the sale or fix the problem.

Kind of like being mad at a doctor because he knows less about how you feel than you do.

Obviously I didn't expect the salesman to know every detail. But if you don't know, don't make up stuff. That's what I meant. Kinda sent up a red flag that this might be just a "salesman" trying to make a sale and would say anything just to get me to sign the paperwork. My previous experience with JD was very pleasant. No Bull by the dealership. This was why I asked for other posters experience with dealerships in my area, to sort the bull---- artists from the real dealers. Word of mouth is the best advertisement.

sbt,
When I went to Coastal, I went in to drive around a Kubota M4800. The salesman there knew more than I did, but that's not unusual since I have only "used" one tractor in my life, and that was my grandad's old Allis Chalmers. I'm in the market for a tractor at this time, and have been visiting ALL tractor dealers for all brands both here in FL and in TN, where my property is located. The salesman at Coastal was not too big on the JD products, and I thought it kind of strange that a dealer would have both JD and Kubota under the same roof. Sort of like cats and dogs living together, so to speak. I went to Green South to drive the Deere product, and the salesman there was knowledgable about the product, but when I asked him some questions concerning JD features vice Kubota, he got his manager to answer them, which I thought was nice. The manager had been a service tech for JD for quite a few years so knew the answers to my questions. I'm still going back and forth on which would be best, but I'm leaning toward the Kubota product, based upon simplicity of design. Like I said earlier, if you want the JD product, Green South seems to want to sell them , and said that they'll beat anything from Kubota/NH with a written quote from the other two on similar tractors.
