JD Hpx gas vs how diesal

I am purchasing an HPX to do barn chores.
Basically takes about 2 hours, going from stall to stall.
I was told with my Gator TX, just to run it vs shut off and restart 6-7 times.

What is better for the machine to start and shut off or let it run? Both the gas and the diesel.?

Is the diesel loud or emit a lot of iexhaust? I am working in a barn.

I not sure what is better, but I always shut mine off. Don’t like letting idle.

It’s a solid workhorse machine.

The Gator HPX diesel I have worked on is loud and stinky. If inside a barn, I would definitely be turning it off.

Note these 3-cyl Yanmar diesels get louder as they get older or high hours, plus the newer ones run cleaner.

I wouldn't leave the either one idling for 2 hours.
Diesel likes to work and get hot.
For mutual short runs, a gas engine would be preferred.
Starting it 6-7 times in 2 hours is nothing to be concerned about.
Maybe put a battery maintainer on it occasionally.

You need to be aware of exhaust fumes. Do not leave it running and make sure you have air circulation.

If it's going to be idling for more than a couple of minutes I turn any of mine off - gas or diesel.
I don't like the noise or the fumes. After 80 years, I've come to believe it makes absolutely no difference to engine life.

I'd go gas over diesel. Less stink and less headaches and purchase cost as well.
