I've seen several postings about what does the new JD X-series look like. I've saved several pictures from the Yahoo forums and will attach them so all can see. By the way - I'm still going to buy a BX2200 in a couple of weeks. Pictures and specs didn't change my mind. Note: Again I got these off another forum so I can't be positive they are 100% accurate.

At first glance it sure doesn't "look" like a competitor to the BX.

Looks like a competitor to me. The 595 is relatively close to the BX in terms of specs, although I think it's at least a 100lb short of BX weight. Most of the others (excepting the 495) are somewhere between a GT and the BX. Wonder what the price range is?

I agree, GlueGuy, I think it'll be a competitor. Can anyone tell my how a "3-cycle" Yanmar engine works?

Hmmm, well, I should stay out of this since I know very little about the BX other then going by it on way into my local JD/Kubota dealer but I look at the JD 595, the first thing I think is a riding mower (probably because all the riding mowers at places like Home Depot that have about the same amount of plastic componets*) with a loader attached. The BX on the otherhand looks a little more like a sub (or smaller) compact tractor.

*Not that theres anything wrong with plastic!

It's a very environmentally friendly engine: Intake, compression, power, intake, compression, power... A real hit with the EPA /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I'm not sure how the X-series will stack up but if/when my Craftsman lawn tractor craps out I would have to consider it for lawn duty only. Wait, why do I need a 1000 pound, $10,000 tractor for mowing grass? If/when my craftsman pukes, I'll likely buy another department store brand lawn tractor for under $1000. I've got 11+ years on my Craftsman including winter snowblowing duty. It's nothing compared to my compact but I sure can't complain about the value I'm getting out of it/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
