Price Check JD Price: Website vs Dealer

Well for me it's all backward!
I paid more than the JD web site prices for both my 4110 in 2003 and now this week my 46 hoe!
Dealer always come up with the argument that he has to pay his mecanics/techs to do the setup! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I find it a bit intimidating to negotiate with this dealer since they sell mostly to farmers so we are talking way more money than what I will ever buy from them.

When a dealer can get away with charging more than MSRP on product, it's a sign that they possess a monopoly on equipment sales in the area they're located in. This is so unfortunate. Would hope you could find more reasonableably priced dealers elsewhere.

Rancar,

You hit the nail right on the head! I found out that the same owners own all of the JD dealers in NB and a couple (the closest to NB) in Quebec. So I would have to drive far enough to actually get to a competing JD dealer.

Now don't get me rong here, the dealer's service is excenlent. Everything I ask was delivered to my specifications but the prices could be better IMHO.

Intimidating? Please tell me you're joking. It is YOUR money! Take it where it's appreciated. I'll probably get blasted for saying this here, but if that means another color, who really cares? All the major brands are good tractors, and will serve you well. You worked hard for your money, make whoever gets it work hard too.

WOW, 21% below list. Where'd you get your JD 4115? I got price quotes from every JD and Kubota Dealer in a 30 mile radius of Newport, PA and the least expensive dealer wanted the price on the Deere site (MSRP). I'm certainly interested in suggestions for getting the overall price down. Right now I'm seriously contemplating a JD 2210 w/ 53" FEL, 62" MMM, and BB for $14K (including the 6% sales tax). I'd like a tiller too, but $14K is already a tad too much for me to handle. Has anyone bought a tractor in a state w/o sales tax? I'm wondering how far I'd have to go to find a dealer that knows how to make a deal.

Hello Rick,

I realize that many dealers are charging close to MSRP over the past year since demand for CUTs are on the increase among many homeowners who are purchasing sizeable acreage to settle on. Many dealers, I'm guessing, believe they can get away with charging as much as the market is willing to pay....it's unfortunate the market is willing to pay up to MSRP prices. I'd suggest you travel a bit further than the 30 mile radius of your home. There are many dealers around that will charge you much less than MSRP...the challenge is to find them.

BTW, I purchased my JD 4710 from KC Canary, a banner advertiser here at TBN. They are close to 75 miles from where I live but they offered me the best deal at about 16% off MSRP about three years ago. You may want to give Mark Bruckner a call at 518-853-3405 to see if he'll sell you a tractor at the price you're expecting to buy at. It may be worth paying the trucking fee to ship your tractor from Fultonville, NY down to your PA home if it means you can save hundreds or thousands in your tractor's total purchase price.

I got 15% off MSRP about 120 miles or so west of you. Sounds like you may have to go a little farther afield than your immediate area, but I would have thought you'd get an even more competitive situation than most PA buyer's down toward the York/Lancaster area - and that's even closer to you.

When I bought my 4100 in 2000 I traveled about 2 1/2 hours to get it to save over 1k. Ironically, later I bought a FEL from the local dealer, he was lower than the dealer I got the 4100 from....go figure
