.........Looking at the parts list and diagram, you can install either a 3rd SCV or a 4th/5th SCV kit in the right fender but not both.
The diagram for the 4th/5th kit, looks like it just hooks into the PB ports, so it would be necessary to have it already installed.
I plan to do something similar and just plumb another valve purchased at Surplus Center in order to get dedicated valves for TNT.
Best Regards,
James

Interesting. Would the 4th and 5th still be #4 and #5 if there was no #3???

As for the power beyond requirement, I would check on that. The power beyond kit normally is nothing more than a kit that routes the hydraulic circuit to (QC) couuplers and then loop it back to where the circuit was going anyhow. I can't imagine why it would not be possible to install the 4th/5th in series into the circuit without adding the power beyond couplers and loop hose. But as James has stated, if you're taking it apart anyhow, there is no reason why not to install the PB option at the same time, provided of course, that it is still available. GET IT WHILE YOU CAN!!

Don't feel bad, you are not the only one. My salesperson told me I didn't need any of that and I could always add them later, even though I specifically told him I wanted all options now that would be more hassle or more costly to install later. When I later asked to have these installed, the price quoted was way higher due to labor and I ended up installing all by myself: Power Beyond, TnT kit, 3rd SCV, electric diverter with 4th/5th remotes. Luckily for me, I found another dealer that had no problems selling those kits to me.

While waiting for a repairman today, I had plenty of time to look at the JDparts web site some more, and this is what I came up with. Ordering the power beyond parts minus the SMV emblem as I have that already is $812.71. The 4th & 5th SCV kit is spread across two pages for clarity on their web site. Page 1 is $1,108.00 and page 2 is $486.56. Grand total is $2407.27 + $69.81 sales tax equals $2477.08 not counting aggravation. For giggles I have an email into Deere asking if the installation manuals for these kits are available to make sure I need the PB to get the 4th & 5th SCV. I also have an email into Carter & Carter Machinery asking what a Top-n-Tilt kit would cost.

I agree with SuperDuper that if you think you may need stuff like this, get it when you order or buy the tractor and don't trust the salesman's word that the kits will be available later.

According to JamesH, the power beyond kit is still available. My guess is that the kit is 1/2 the price or less of peicing it together. My PB kit was $232, I believe. Get it if it's still available. If nothing else, the PB will allow you to easily connect additional spool valves.

reasley,
Did you get your 3rd SVC valve all sorted out?
I noticed there is a PB kit on Ebay now also if you are interested.

James

Good evening, James --

Thanks for asking. Since I first started this thread (and after building my forklift & boom attachment), I have begun building a two-story storage building on my property and the SCV took a small backseat. During that time, I found a 3rd SCV kit for a JD 4500-4600 compact tractor and put it on mine -- it is, for all practical purposes, the same kit for the 4200-4300-4400 tractors, too, with a few exceptions, primarily in the mounting of the QAs. A little welding took care of that, though, and, though I have not used it yet, it works fine.

I have the 3rd SCV kit for my tractor (not installed yet) and wouldn't mind having the 4 and 5th can I do that or do I need to put the PB kit in with separate valves. Any help is appreciated

I was out at our new property the other day and stopped in the local Deere dealer on a whim to see if they had the PB and 4th & 5th SCV kits in stock. The PB kit is on order and the 4th & 5th SCV kit is in stock. I think they will be glad to get rid of the old new stock from their inventory.

Buying the kits is about $1,100 with tax; buying the parts individually, which can be done is about $2,500.

Tritonman,
It is still my understanding and I have found other models similar to mine that say the 4th and 5th SCV valves are plumbed through the PB.
If you look on JDParts at the diagram you will see that the valve has 6 QD's on it. So it must plumb in with hoses somewhere.
My thought at this point and I would like someones expert opinion is to install an electric diverter valve on my 3rd SCV connection. Something like a 9-6865 from Surplus Center. This should give me 3 separate outputs controllable from the single 3rd SCV lever mounted on the fender. The main uses of the three outputs would be grapple and TNT. They should not require a huge amount of flow.
I will do that or go ahead and install a 3 sets of Prince valves from SC and plumb them into the PB.
I just cannot justify the cost of the 4th and 5th SCV. Also at this point you should keep in mind that as near as I can tell, the 3rd SCV and 4th/5th SCV cannot coexist at the same time, unless you mount the 3rd SCV control somewhere else besides the fender.
Regards,
James

Based on the instructions I have for the 4200 - 4400 4th & 5th SCV kit; it requires the power beyond kit to be installed first. If a 3rd SCV is installed, it needs to be removed.

When I ordered my 4300 I tolf the salesman that I wanted an outlet in the back (Power Beyond) to use for a woodsplitter. It came with the handle in the fender. Had to tie it back to use the woodsplitter. Then I found a used hoe at another dealer a few years later. He told me I would need the Power Beyond. I said no problem, I had one. When I described it he set me straight. Now I have both, 3rd SCV and Power Beyond.....The wood splitter works a lot better with the true Power Beyond.
