JD seems to be too big for its britches

From what I can recall from many years ago fuel and lubricants were bought from a supplier that only sold fuel and lubricants.

The equipment dealers may have had some in stock but it was a very minor issue.

The dealer semed to supply parts and such - not lubricants.

Seeing as how 90% of the showroom space in my local NH and JD dealer is taken up by their oem branded fluids ( oils, addatives, sprays, goops..polish/waxes.. etc) I'd have to guess that there counting on more than incedental sales now.

For what it's worth.. I finally found my 0# grease thru the local fuel dealer that the GC I work for uses. ( They were glad to order it, drop it on the next truck out, and get it to me the next day.. )

Hey Soundguy I hear you, I went to different Jd dealers here in western ky when I was looking at purchasing a CUT. The first one locally didn't have time to talk to me ( he sells mostly combines ). The second dealer about 20 miles away got mad when I wanted a price on a demo with T4 tires instead of ag. The Kubota saleman called me 3 times and offered to meet me anytime for a test drive as I was working long hours. Guess what color tractors in the shop now. Now I'm looking for a lawn tractor and its gonna be orange too.

What a useful thread!

I wonder if my friendly NH Dealer carries Cornhead grease? (why didn't ol' soundguy get three free tubes from his?) My Kubota dealer is so incompetent, I am sure all Kubota dealers are, and owners must be dolts!

I mean this tongue in cheek.

Dealers are independant business men trying to make a living. A big ag dealer who only carries combines might be doing customers and himself a disservice by trying to cater to CUT weekend warriors, too. Do you have any idea whatsoever what a combine even means?

Get a life, guys!

What is with the JD Dealer Bashing? 9 out of the 10 dealerships I have dealt with over the last few years have their share of incompetent jerks working for them regardless of the color of the tractors. My local Kubota dealer is owned by United Rental oh yeah that's a fun one to deal with a different counter person every week. I couldn't get my Case dealer to call me back after multiple tries. The NH dealer spent the whole time telling me I was crazy to even consider a Green Machine and neglected to show me his product. The bottom line is the American way of doing has changed dramatically over the last 20 years or so the profit margins are so small now that finding and keeping good help is impossible. Better get used to it as the "Wal-Mart mentality" is changing retailing across the country - hire cheap and turn them over before you have to pay benefits.

You can buy JD Cornhead Grease in 12 pack boxes. We have them at work with the other greases.

Rockyridge,
The problem with most dealership employees is that people get lazy. Too lazy, they stop caring about the JD dealership then in goes to ****. I have seen people that sit behind the counter when the shelves need to be stocked. I have seen the stocks go un shelved for one whole month straight. Same thing happens in the car business too.

Yup but there also really good dealers who get taken for jerks, but are just operating under Pareto's Principle - The 80-20 Rule. For whatever reason. a particular customer is one they can't help. If they try to be what each person that comes through their door wants, they won't be able to adequately service the ones they really need to take care of.

So far I've gotten offers from two dealers out of state, ( one near the georgia/florida line, and another one a few states farther north) to send me cornhead grease. So I can see that it isn't even a big regional issue, if it is 'on the shelf' as far down as georgia. This just lets me know that the two delaers I have are not customer oriented..

As a matter of fact. my NH dealer did offer to order me some 0# grease if I didn't find it anywhere else.. was something like 2.50$ per tube. I ended up getting it at a fuel dealer.
