Anyone had a problem with sticking steering on JD 40 series? The rubber boot around the steering column seems to grab on the underside of the steering wheel. I used a little WD, but that only lasted a short time.

Try a little grease. It will last longer.

Grease would do it... but if you don't want all the dirt that will collect -- I'd try one of the "teflon" spray lubes.

There's quite a few different ones on the market. I use Triflow quite a bit on things like the ball ends of the 3pt, etc.

The dirt doesn't build up as bad and it will last longer than WD-40.

Thanks AK - I shot it with some graphite powder today and will give that a few days - if that doesn't work I'll try your advice. We spent several days in Alaska last summer - relatives in Soldatna. Rode the train from Anchorage to Fairbanks, then flew out of Fairbanks. It was about my 10th trip to Alaska but the first one where I could be a visitor! All the rest were Air Force related.
