JD & Titan Tires

The only thing I regret about the last tractor I purchased was that I didn't request something other than titan tires. After 750 hours I am hoping to 250 more from them. Too soft for my liking. Maybe different makeup down south.

"Congrats!!
Not only did you offend the Greenhornets you also took out Canada!! hehehe"

Thanks, I am good at it aren't I. I will stick with what I said. If companies keep out sourcing they will cease to exist. J

"I know the JD dealer I work for has every type of bolt, washer, gasket, and so on. JD dealers do stock a lot of parts and accessories but we can't possibly keep tham all in stock as they may sit for a few years or more. Right now I am doing parts inventory and I was checking in all the chain links and came across this one unopened bag with the 4 legged deer on it. Now that's old maybe from the 1950's or 1960's! "

I think you missed the point entirely. I was not talking about bolts and washers. Heck, the Kubota place has those and so does the NH place and the Agco place and so on. If you want to stand out in a crowded field the best way to do it is by being different--not the same--different. It is not worth it to me to explain exactly what I mean, they aren't paying me to consult /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif so to heck with it. I do know this, if you do everything the same tommorow as you do today as a company then that company will cease to exist. Bags of old bolts and washers are not going to cut it. The product and accesories and attitude must be in stock. I guess in a way I am talking about doing away with independent dealers and going to JD SuperCenters that would have everything and are corporate owned and exploring internet sales as well. Do any tractor company have lease plans? like with cars? If you had a lease, say for 3 years that had a built in discount for leasing or buying a new JD product at the end of that lease that would lock in your customer base and they would not be out wandering around the Kubota lot /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif. Just some thoughts on being different and moving inventory. J

Could I ask what hind of store you shop in that has everything you want. I seem to allways have to go three places to get one thing.

He's NOT shopping. He's daydreaming. Wouldn't it be nice if we could all lease our little tractors then turn them back in a few years /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif We could buy our Orange paint at Yakamoto super stores that claim to be more American than the Americans /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I guess I missed the point too, errr unless were just kicking the nest. Some folks get that way at Christmas : /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Dave

I interpreted him as saying, the day isn't far off when the big 3 will have their own in house super store that automatically will eliminate the local dealers. Kind of a "no dicker on the sticker". One buys their machine and/or any parts they need. Or, they can copy the automotive industry and lease tractors for a period of time and monthly price. You know, he might just be on to something as I think that would work here in New England where the big 3 dealers gouge, gouge, and gouge you somemore compared to crossing the NYS line and going 75 miles in or so.

All dealerships were not created the same. My local JD dealer has a great parts department and inventory. The JD dealership 20 minutes away cannot say the same. I suspect the same applies to other Colors as well.

Based on the earlier stuff I was thinking that it was just a bit of tongue in cheek color kicking. I hope that day never arrives. It does little good to have inventory and good prices but zero service. Try getting something repaired at the home depot or even customer service. We have a large dealer here with several stores. I will be color blind on this one just to be fair. When I was shopping the salesman tried to tell me the tiller went on the front of the tractor. All of our dealers here, except blue, could stand to be hit on the head a few times to knock a little not so common sense back in. But at least for my area I am fortunate to have several dozen dealers to weed through, and it took a LOT of weeding. I shopped all colors. When I buy again I probably will do the same. A good dealer is the real key no matter what brand you buy weather its a tractor a truck Chainsaw etc. Dave

you see, right here is the big difference. You have many dealers within reasonable driving distance and can shop to your hearts content. Here, they are few and far between. Dealers can call the shots as they know, you'll have to drive one/two/three hours to the next competitor, and most likely, but not always, end up in the same predicament. i would love to see the big 3, get forced into some serious competition around here. Now off brands like I have (ie) Mahindra. Last year one or two dealers. This year they seem to be on every other street corner. Big 3 are few and far between in this neighborhood.
