"I know the JD dealer I work for has every type of bolt, washer, gasket, and so on. JD dealers do stock a lot of parts and accessories but we can't possibly keep tham all in stock as they may sit for a few years or more. Right now I am doing parts inventory and I was checking in all the chain links and came across this one unopened bag with the 4 legged deer on it. Now that's old maybe from the 1950's or 1960's! "
I think you missed the point entirely. I was not talking about bolts and washers. Heck, the Kubota place has those and so does the NH place and the Agco place and so on. If you want to stand out in a crowded field the best way to do it is by being different--not the same--different. It is not worth it to me to explain exactly what I mean, they aren't paying me to consult /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif so to heck with it. I do know this, if you do everything the same tommorow as you do today as a company then that company will cease to exist. Bags of old bolts and washers are not going to cut it. The product and accesories and attitude must be in stock. I guess in a way I am talking about doing away with independent dealers and going to JD SuperCenters that would have everything and are corporate owned and exploring internet sales as well. Do any tractor company have lease plans? like with cars? If you had a lease, say for 3 years that had a built in discount for leasing or buying a new JD product at the end of that lease that would lock in your customer base and they would not be out wandering around the Kubota lot /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif. Just some thoughts on being different and moving inventory. J
