There are tractors that are not green that don't have rocker hst's. Even better, mine doesn't have a clutch.

Does anyone know when JD started using the twin pedals?

I drove Kubotas for 20 years, one of which (BX2200) had the rocker type pedal. All had a clutch pedal on the left and a brake pedal on the right. It took a little time to get used to the twin forward and reverse pedals on the right on my JD 2210 and the brake on the left. But after ten hours, this set up feels very natural and I like it a lot. Who says you can't teach old dogs new tricks? Not I. . . .

The pedal lay out the kubota is what pushed me over the edge to JD.

I paid 1200 more for the 2305 TLB over the BX24. Three reasons that I decided to go with green. First the twin touch pedals sold me. They were more easy for me to operate. Secondly, I like that JD gives you the option of going with a larger FEL bucket. I chose the 53" bucket. I like that extra 5" to work with . The final reason was the comfort. The seat on the JD in my opinion was way more comfortable seat. I felt that I was leaning forward on the BX24. I do think that Kubota makes a very good tractor. But for me, there was no second guessing in going with ole JD. My only regret is not doing this much sooner!

I pretty much agree with others on the twin pedals. I much prefer them over the rocker style pedals. John Deere is not exclusive to these though. New Holland has many models with twin pedals. Heck my little Simplicity garden tractor has the twin pedal lineup. I really prefer this style of pedals.

And the seats on the Kubota's (at least the models I tried) is biggest gripe with them. They do make you feel like you are slipping off them.

Over the weekend I saw a KIOTI DK35SE HST that had twin pedals . I currently have a rocker and I'm satisfied, but I do like the twin setup. As far as brakes, I use them as a parking brake and that's about it.

If your taller the twin touch is a must.. On these smaller tractors, there would be no way for me to get my foot back that far on a rocker.... At least comfortably...

I have a Kubota F3060 front mower with the treadle pedal, which I like when having to do precision mowing in tight quarters. That being said, I had a New Holland CM224 which had the 2 pedal design which I liked. When I traded it in for a JD 1445, the pedals were reversed, so for a while I was screwing things up until it became second nature again. Didn't roll down any hills into any ponds though, just some close calls for a while.

Chris,

I don't know when JD started with the twin pedals but my 1987 JD755 had them. It was also the only HST CUT at the time that placed the differential lock under your left foot.

For me, I much prefered the layout of the deere pedals over the kubota. Especially having the brakes on the left. I think it will be far less nerve-wracking dumping over the side of my pickup when I can be on the brakes as I get close.
