Sick of arguing with friends and family about who's better. I grew up with JD that's why i have JD. Can they even be compared? what are your thoughts?

I've got a IH 2544 and it's a beast...that being said alot of parts are extremely hard to find and they are pricey because of it.....I think in the parts availability I think JD is better. :2cents:

I think its just a matter of personal preference. I know they all must have good tractors or they wouldn't be in business. I have a friend who says Oliver is the best tractor ever made. My Grandfather farmed with AC and my other Grandfather and my Dad liked IH. My Great Grandfather had Case. I have just always liked John Deere but I can't say they are any better then any of the other brands. The one thing I have noticed about all of them is they all have repair shops and they always seem to be busy. I rented a Case IH combine the last 2 years and I must say its not bad. If I was going to buy another one it would probably be green. Just my 2 cents.

I bleed green!! Actually, as far as "old iron", I like them all, but much prefer JD as that is what I grew up on (literally).

Just remember if you see an old John Deere behind an old Farmall with a chain between them, he's pushing the Farmall!

Seriously guys, don't argue about it, each brand had some better models & some that weren't so good with "lemons" in both!

I suspect it was more the "dealers" in a given area than the quality of the equipment. As a kid I grew up JD green because they where by far the closest and best dealer around. Later in life we had Ford 5000 and 5600, these where both good dependable tractors. The White was the "Silver Lemon".

IH, Case, AC, MF never had a presence in our area because there was no local dealership. 40 miles away was the AC dealer and in that area you saw AC.

Where I live today I am not sure where the closest IH dealer is. New Holland, JD, AC, Kubota, MF are with in 20 miles and JD is the most common and NH the least common, again due to the dealership and JD having a complete product line not just tractors.

if you go back though the years there where times when one company had a leg up on the other in terms of what their products could do. Today, the differences are much smaller.
