does anyone know the gal/ hr of the 475, 485, and 495?

I have owned an X485 and an X595. When mowing my 485 would use about 1-1.25 gallons per hour at about full throttle. My 595 would use about 1/2 gallon per hour, and sometimes a little less. I would expect the carbureted 575 to use about 1/4 gallon per hour more than the 485. Both the 485 and the 595 would use less fuel when doing pulling work, such as pulling a box blade, because less throttle was needed. In that, the 595 would pull even further ahead, using as little as 1/4 gallon per hour doing low RPM work. Although these amounts vary machine to machine, I would expect the diesel to use about one half the fuel of a good, fuel injected gasoline engine in this size equipment.

Well I did it. I signed the order today for an X485 AWS with a 62C deck, a 47" snowblower, weights/rear weight bracket, and chains. Anyway, I don't think the price I got set any records, but I hope it was fair. $10,000 for the tractor and mower, and $2,680 for the blower. I'm definitely open for comments on this, as I couldn't get a good historical average in my research. Now the hard part, waiting two weeks, but in the meantime I've got to sell my 318 setup. I certainly wouldn't be unhappy with that price. In fact, I don't want to go back at the moment and add up my X485 with 54" blade, rear weight bracket and weights, chains, and 54" deck.
Why? because I don't think I wanna know as I don't remember it being less than your deal /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
And that was two years ago!!

Anxious to hear how you like it. That 318 is a classic, and hope it gets you what it is worth. Seem to be a lot of collectors after them.

Prices seemed reasonable. Does the snowblower cost include the front hitch and front PTO etc. to run it? I think the front hitch setup includes the lock-out valve to block the rear lift cylinder so all flow goes to the blower.

Double check, and don't forget pictures!

Any regrets buying the JD 54in blade over the johnny bucket? I'm torned between the models (somewhat leaning to the johnny bucket....)

No regrets, as I have only looked at the bucket. But I wouldn't get the bucket to plow snow nor to do any grading with it. If I get the bucket, it would be to haul things around and scoop up things from a pile (sawdust, chips, loose dirt, etc). I'd get the bucket for wheelbarrow-type jobs.

But like many things, once one has them, they often find more uses than any original thoughts that came to mind. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Yup, the blower includes everything I need to run it, as you mentioned. Hard to believe the snowblower setup for my X cost more than I bought my 318, mower, blower, trailer, weights, chains, and gas for two years! It has been a fantastic worker, 22 years old and still running strong, albeit smoking a little bit. I'll miss it, but I can't wait for the X. Wonder if it will be in my possession in 22 years... Oh yeah, can you tell I'm excited? I've looked at the X brochure about 5 times today! Pics to follow...

Just something to think about but...
I own a JD 318 with a 54c blade it has up/down and angling. I bought the superior scoop to bolt to it. That way if I need to plow snow I can remove 5 bolts and to it or I can leave the scoop on and I have an automated wheel barrow. OH and I cannot tell you how many times the "claw" action has pulled shrubs out and thus saved my back.
Good luck with the X it is an awsome machine.

I reviewed the Superior Scoop and liked what I saw. The WEB page mentioned the five bolts but I could only see three. Has the product lived up to your expectations?

I like the idea of the "grappler" feature

Difficulty of installation? The design looks robust with the dual bottom design.

I'm comparing the blade, blade/Scoop, and the johnny bucket for my X.
